NEWS IN BRIEF
LatAmOil
The postponement was due to an unscheduled emergency stoppage to repair equipment in the processing plant which receives the natural gas coming from the Route 2 pipeline, which also transports the natural gas produced in the Santos Basin and Campos Basin.
The operation is essential to ensure the full operation of Route 2, which will guarantee mar- ket supply during the stoppage of the Route 1 pipeline.
As this is merely an adjustment to the sched- ule, the assumptions of supply and physical availability of the gas molecule are preserved, thus ensuring the market supply, observing the conditions agreed in the contracts.
The new schedule brought a development that is favorable to the market and the Brazilian electricity sector, since it results in a reduction of the period in which there would be the imposi- tion of contractual restrictions on the program- ming of gas to customers and, consequently, an eventual increase of cost in the case of withdraw- als of gas above the programmed and restricted volumes. According to the contracts, Petrobras’ scheduled maintenance can last a maximum of 30 days. With the change, Petrobras will apply the restriction, if necessary, for only 16 days, between August 29 and September 13. Thus, during the period between August 15 and 29, normal contract conditions will be maintained. The activities of the Mexilhão stoppage and of the Route 1 gas pipeline are expected to take place until September 28.
The new schedule will also allow for an increase in natural gas power generation if com- pared to the previous scenario, due to the availa- bility of gas for plants that would have scheduled shutdowns concurrently with the stoppage of Route 1 or that would operate with alterna- tive fuels. Thus, the stoppage of UTE Cubatão, owned by Petrobras, was rescheduled, in addi- tion to the confirmation of availability for the consumption of natural gas for power generation for another 14 days (between August 15 and 29) at the Araucária, Linhares, Santa Cruz, William Arjona, and Norte Fluminense plants.
The adjustment in the start date of the sched- uled stoppage ensures compliance with the max- imum deadlines designated in standards and recommendations for inspections to be carried out as preventive maintenance and improve- ments in the facilities, not changing the original scope considered and ensuring continuity and safety in the operations of natural gas flow and supply.
Petrobras continues to make every effort to maximise the availability of gas to the market during the scheduled stoppage, always observ- ing the safety of its operations and respect for the environment. Among the implemented solutions are: Expansion of the capacity of the Guanabara Bay Regasification Terminal from
20 mcf per day to 30 mcf per day; Reposition- ing of regasification vessel from the Pecém LNG Regasification Terminal to the Bahia Terminal (TRBA), with the capacity to offer an additional 14 mcm per day; Positioning in the LNG supply ships and cargo market.

Fugro wins another IRM contract with Petrobras
Petrobras has awarded Fugro a three-year con- tract for subsea inspection, repair and mainte- nance (IRM) services in Brazil.
The contract is set to begin in Q4-2021 and will be accomplished from the Fugro Aquarius using two Fugro-built 3000-metre work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). The award follows the successful completion of a previous four-year contract for similar services aboard the same vessel.
Designed primarily for the Brazilian market, the 83-metre-long Fugro Aquarius boasts a die- sel-electric propulsion arrangement that reduces noise and carbon emissions, along with a redun- dant, dynamic positioning system that keeps the ship steady under a wide range of sea and wind conditions. During the previous contract, Fugro accomplished more than 20,000 hours of successful ROV operations for Petrobras, help- ing to unlock insights from Geo-data about the condition of existing assets and the surrounding environment for safe and efficient oil and gas operations.
Commenting on the new contract, Rogerio Carvalho, Country Manager of Fugro Brazil, stated: “Fugro is very pleased to receive this latest award, which shows once again our com- mitment to client focus. Our proven delivery excellence, together with the fuel efficiency of the Fugro Aquarius, allowed us to put forth a highly
competitive commercial offer meeting all tech- nical requirements of the tender. We look for- ward to continuing our success with Petrobras on this new contract and to consolidating our position within the Brazilian IRM ROV market, which has nearly doubled in capacity over the last year.”

Oceaneering awarded
survey contract for work
offshore Guyana by EEPGL
Oceaneering International has been awarded a contract from Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Ltd (EEPGL) to provide two surveys off- shore Guyana.
The contract award covers a towed and autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) geo- physical survey and a shallow geotechnical sur- vey off the coast of Guyana. Oceaneering will use the DP-2 Cape Davis, equipped with the 3,000- metre rated OS-VI AUV, towed geophysical sensors and geotechnical sampling and testing equipment.
The surveys are scheduled to begin in Q3-2021. In addition to the geophysical and geotechnical survey, Oceaneering will also be working with RPS Group to provide Protected Species Observers (PSO) and perform an Envi- ronmental Baseline Survey (EBS) of the area.
Oceaneering has been providing related support since 2017 including ROV and sub- sea tooling services. As part of these services, Oceaneering is committed to growing our local Guyanese workforce as well as ensuring that all of our subcontractors are progressing their commitment to nationalisation. A cornerstone of our commitment is a sustainable career devel- opment and investment programme that will allow Oceaneering to offer best in class services to support the growing industry in Guyana for years to come.
