RigNet signs multi-year
agreement with Brazilian
operators offering managed
communications on FPSOs
RigNet, the leading provider of ultra-secure, intelligent networking solutions, announced today that it has signed a multi-year agreement after winning a public bid with Petrobras to add fully Managed Communication services with O3B VSAT technology on six of the latter com- pany’s FPSO installations. This is in addition to four FPSOs Petrobras awarded RigNet last year.
This represents RigNet’s ongoing expansion of its portfolio of FPSO deployments for a total seventeen awarded in Brazil alone. Today, Rig- Net is the only service provider in Brazil to offer O3B connectivity through its Managed Com- munication Service. RigNet’s global expansion in the FPSO market also includes a multi-year agreement awarded in October to provide Man- aged Communication Service and deployment of RigNet’s suite of Crew Welfare applications on three FPSOs in Thailand.
RigNet’s high-performance O3B connectiv- ity provides its clients with the highest-capacity, lowest-latency, and most flexible satellite-based data communications for critical remote con- nectivity. With RigNet’s Managed Communi- cations service, operators benefit from a secure, intelligent networking solution to support crit- ical data and communication needs for their remote locations.
“We are very pleased with our ongoing growth into the production sector of the energy market,” said Steven Pickett, Chief Executive Officer and President of RigNet. “We are focused on offering the broadest range of communica- tion solutions, including O3B technology, to meet the unique needs of the energy value chain in Brazil and around the world.”

OFFSHORE
SBM Offshore awarded
contracts for ExxonMobil’s
third FPSO in Guyana
SBM Offshore is pleased to announce that Exx- onMobil subsidiary Esso Exploration and Pro- duction Guyana Ltd (EEPGL) has awarded the company contracts to perform Front End Engi- neering and Design (FEED) for a floating pro- duction, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) for the Payara development project located in the Stabroek block in Guyana. EEPGL is the oper- ator of the Stabroek block with partners Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. and CNOOC Petro- leum Guyana Ltd.
Prior to necessary government approvals and project sanction, the contract award will initiate a limited release of funds to begin FEED activi- ties and secure a Fast4Ward® hull.
The Fast4Ward® hull is a standard design with
the flexibility to be utilised for projects across the deep water market. Following FEED and subject to government approvals in Guyana, project sanction and an authorisation to proceed with the next phase, SBM Offshore will construct, install and then lease and operate the FPSO for a period of up to 2 years, after which the FPSO ownership and operation will transfer to EEPGL.
The FPSO, to be named Prosperity, will utilise a design that largely replicates the design of the Liza Unity FPSO. As such, the design is based on SBM Offshore’s industry leading Fast4Ward® program that incorporates the Company’s new build, multi- purpose hull combined with several standardised topsides modules. The FPSO will be designed to produce 220,000 barrels of oil per day, will have associated gas treatment capacity of 400mn cubic feet per day and water injection capacity of 250,000 barrels per day. The FPSO will be spread moored in water depth of about 1,900 metres and will be able to store around 2mn barrels of crude oil.
SBM Offshore is exploring options to maxim- ise local content and Guyanese workforce devel- opment, building on efforts to date on the Liza Destiny and Liza Unity FPSOs.
SBM Offshore CEO Bruno Chabas com- mented: “We are pleased to report that Exx- onMobil has selected SBM Offshore to award contracts for a third FPSO in Guyana, starting with the front-end engineering, to continue the world-class deep water development in Guyana. The successful team work with our client Exxon- Mobil on the Liza Destiny and Liza Unity FPSOs provided a solid foundation for this award. This project will be adding further traction to SBM Offshore’s Fast4Ward® program as its design is incorporating our multi-purpose hull and a number of standardised modules. We look for- ward to continuing to build on our close collab- oration with ExxonMobil in order to also make this project a success.”
