Iran suggests seizing US embassy following consulate attack
Iran/Iraq
HaRdLINE Iranian newspaper Kayhan, which is allegedly the mouthpiece of Supreme Leader ayatollah ali Khamenei, has suggested seizing the uS embassy in Baghdad following an attack on the Iranian consulate last night in Karbala, Radio Farda reported on November 4.
The attack on the Iranian consulate in the pilgrimage city of Karbala on November 3 and 4 left at least five people dead as security forces fired live rounds into crowds to disperse people.
The shooting followed several people climb- ing over the 20-metre blast walls that surrounded the Iranian compound.
The protesters, who demanded that Iran stop interfering in Iraq’s internal affairs, climbed the consulate’s walls. another Iraqi report says that security forces fired live rounds at protesters gathered in Baghdad on November 4.
Iran suspects the men who attacked the
compound over the course of the past 48-hours and ripped down the Iranian flag were paid agents of the uS and Israel, according to the paper, which is often cited as being conspiratorial.
“The uS and Western intelligence services, with the financial backing of reactionary coun- tries in the region, are spreading turmoil,” Ira- nian Supreme Leader ayatollah ali Khamenei said last week.
Their suspicions will only grow as uS Pres- ident donald Trump is actively pushing a maximum pressure campaign against Tehran retweeted Saudi-funded opposition channel Iran International of the attack on the consulate.
adel abdul Mahdi called on the protesters - who are angry at his failure to deal with wide- spread corruption, and ongoing meddling and interference by Iran to “help restore normality to the country” in remarks broadcast.

Energean announces strong results from Karish North
IsraeL
LONdON-LISTEd Energean Oil and Gas this week announced the results of its Karish North appraisal, with the find likely to add significantly to the firm’s reserve base.
In a November 4 announcement, Energean said that the successful appraisal of the Karish North discovery confirmed best estimate recov- erable resources of 0.9 trillion cubic feet (25bn cubic metres) and 34mn barrels of light oil/ condensate.
achieving first gas at Karish Main by 2021 has been Energean’s main focus.
Its main focus is on ongoing work to achieve first gas from the Karish field offshore Israel by early 2021. Gross discovered resources in the Karish and Tanin licences, of which Energean holds a share of 70%, account for 2.4 tcf (68 bcm) of gas and 33mn barrels of light oil/condensate. These increase to 3.3 tcf (93 bcm) and 67mn bar- rels, respectively.
Energean said that Karish North would be developed via tie-back to the Energean Power FPSO, which is to be located 5.4 km away and will have a capacity of 8 bcm per year.
The statement also said that “the appraisal results further enhance the likelihood that the
0.4 bcm per year I.P.M Beer Tuvia contract will be converted into a Firm Gas Sales and Purchase agreement,” adding that this would “increase firm contracted volumes to 4.7 bcm”.
It noted that the Stena drillMax would next proceed to complete three development wells at Karish Main.
