2.6 Hunger fuelling anger against Syrian immigrants
“You’re living more comfortably. I can’t eat banana, you are buying kilograms of banana,” a Turkish man said during a street interview in Istanbul as he chided a female Syrian student.
The video went viral among Syrian immigrants and seven individuals reacted by sharing photos and videos of them eating bananas.
The Erdogan regime came up with a permanent solution as usual: deport the Syrian immigrants who shared photos or videos of them eating bananas.
Turkey has limited banana production. It imports the majority of the bananas it consumes. The lira depreciation is directly felt in banana prices.
