Neptune dishes out $40mn in contracts at Seagull project
UK
Neptune took an FID at the project in March.
UK independent Neptune Energy has awarded $40mninequipmentandservicescontractsfor the Seagull oil and gas eld in the North Sea, where it took a nal investment decision (FID) in March.
e contracts are three years in length and include two one-year options to extend. M I Drilling Fluids will supply mud, drilling uids and well-bore clean-up services, while Halli- burton will deliver high pressure/high temper- ature completions equipment, Neptune said on December 3. Schlumberger Oil eld UK has been selected to provide perforating services.
Neptune has a 35% operated stake in Seagull, while partners BP and Japan’s Japex have shares of 50% and 15% respectively. The field has 50mn barrels of oil equivalent (boe) in proven plus probable reserves and is slated to come on stream in 2021, yielding 50,000 boepd over its 10-year production life.
“ e Seagull development is hugely impor- tant for Neptune and underlines our commit- ment to growing our operations in the UK North Sea,”NeptuneprojectmanagerShonaCampbell said in a statement. “ e award of the contracts is also a crucial step in the development and
demonstrates the diverse range of technical expertiseavailablefromUKsuppliers.”
Seagull is a high-pressure, high-temperature eld situated on UK licence P1622, 17km south of the BP-operated ETAP central processing facility (CPF). It is set to be tied back to the ETAP CPF, partially using existing subsea infrastruc- ture that would have otherwise been decommis- sioned. Gas from the eld will be brought ashore at the CATS processing terminal at Teesside, while oil will be piped through the Forties system to the Kinneil terminal in Grangemouth.
Neptune acquired its stake in Seagull from Apache last year.
In related news, the company announced on December 4 that 3D seismic surveys had begun at its Petrel gas eld in the Bonaparte Basin o Australia. e surveys will cover 2,900 square km and data will become available in the fourth quarter of 2020. Neptune is yet to shore up devel- opment plans at Petrel, but has suggested that its gas could be pumped to Darwin and then lique- edforexport.
Neptune also operates in Norway, the Nether- lands, Germany, North Africa and Indonesia.
