Ukraine to cut Russian diesel imports in Aug
Ukraine anticipates Russia’s share of the country’s diesel imports to fall from the current 45% to 25% in August and 10-15% in September, presidential spokesman Andrei Gerus said at a press conference on August 6.
“We will achieve signi cant diversi cation in August. Whereas Russia’s earlier supplies accounted for about 45%, we expect them at 25% in August and at 10–15% in September,” Gerus said.
 e shortfall will be covered with supplies from Belarus, he explained.

ABB to digitalise Kazakh oil refinery
Swiss-based tech group ABB has reported winning a multi-million dollar contract to modernise the Shymkent oil re nery in Kazakhstan.
ABB will leverage ABB Ability, the company’s uni ed, cross digital o ering,
in delivering solutions to modernise the Shymkent oil re nery in Kazakhstan,” it said. “Sensors, data and advanced analytics will monitor and assess the real-time health of the plant’s assets, with operator PetroKazakhstan Oil Products (PKOP) to gain critical, real- time insights into their assets and production processes.”
ABB’s work will allow the re nery to raise its productivity and lower its operating costs, the company said.

SOCAR evacuates 700
offshore workers amid
storm
SOCAR has evaluated around 700 oil workers from o shore facilities in the Caspian Sea because of strong winds in Baku and across the Absheron peninsula, the company told the Trend news agency on August 5.
Several open-air operations have been suspended at area because of safety concerns, the agency reported. Earlier, Azerbaijan’s natural resources ministry said powerful
winds are anticipated between August 5 and 8, with gusts reaching maximum speeds of 23-28 metres per second and up to 30-50 metres per second on August 5, according to Trend.

SOCAR reports on Baku- Novorossiysk oil flows
Azerbaijan’s state-owned SOCAR pumped 329,420 tonnes of oil via the Baku- Novorossiysk pipeline through Russia in the  rst seven months of 2019, less than half of the 718,4000 tonnes it  owed in the same period last year.
Baku-Novorossiysk runs for 1,330 km from the Sangachal terminal near Baku to the Novorossiysk terminal on Russia’s Black Sea shore.
SOCAR resumed use of the pipeline on July 3, a er a March shutdown for scheduled maintenance.

Kazakh oil pipeline flows
to China reach 5.59mn in
H1-2019
 e Kazakhstan-China oil pipeline delivered 5.59mn tonnes of crude oil to China in the  rst half of 2019, PetroChina West Pipeline Company announced on August 1, Xinhua news agency reported.
 e 2,800-km-long pipeline stretches from the city of Atyrau to Atasu in Kazakhstan, passes through the Alatau Mountains and connects to PetroChina Dushanzi Petrochemical Company in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
 e pipeline has been in operation for
13 years and had delivered a total of 126mn tonnes of crude oil to China as of June 30, the pipeline’s operator said. In addition to Kazakh oil, it also transits oil to China from Russia.
