Port of Duqm facilitates
Duqm Refinery’s heavy-lift
cargo arrival
Port of Duqm is facilitating Duqm Re nery’s (EPC 2 – Petrofac & Samsung Engg.) cargo for the discharge of 9 massive LPG storage tanks under the agency of Khimji Ramdas Shipping, the port said.
ese nine tanks will be loaded on a barge and transported in three di erent shipments to Port of Duqm. ey are fabricated and loaded at Larsen & Toubro Oman (L & T Oman) facility in Sohar and towed on a
barge to Port of Duqm. Mammoet, a global market leader in heavy-li transportation, will take care of the safe pickup and delivery to Duqm Re nery. e rst shipment is already discharged at Port of Duqm and on the way to be trucked to the re nery’s plot in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm.
e tanks weigh approximately 780 metric tonneseachandmeasures11mhigh,8mwide and 72m long. It is one of the longest and heaviest cargoes ever discharged at Port of Duqm and the operation was carried out by RORO (Roll on – Roll O ) module.
e Port of Duqm said it was proud to service the construction of this key anchor project for the Duqm development and continuously prove its capabilities to all relevant stakeholders to handle this type of cargo.
KNPC launches Al-Ahmadi distillation unit
Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) announced on February 2 the launch of a vacuum distillation unit at the Al-Ahmadi re nery, a liated to the environmental fuel project.
Abdullah Al-Ajmi, Deputy Chief Executive O cer and the KNPC o cial spokesperson, said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the unit had begun production according to schedule.
is unit had been built according to state of art international speci cations with an output capacity that can reach some 72,000 barrels of diesel per day.
It is one of the key units a liated to the environmental fuel venture, he said, adding that the step would pave the way for operating other facilities envisaged in the project at Al- Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah re neries.

South Sudan and Russia intend to sign a memorandum on partnership in the oil and gas sector, the foreign minister of the African country, Awut Deng Acuil told Sputnik on January 30, adding that her nation wants to extend cooperation with Russian businesses to other areas, including infrastructure.
e foreign minister visited Moscow from
January 27-29, where she met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to continue talks they started during the 2019 Russia-Africa summit in Sochi. e two countries signed a memorandum of understanding during the event.
“ ere will be a memorandum signed, this is what I am following up on. Now, we identi ed the areas where we can cooperate with Russia.
We know that there is a very good technology in terms of natural gas, also in the petroleum sphere, and we have coal we have so many minerals so we wanted to identify
the areas where the Russian companies can now come. ey can come even to the re nery [sector], and to infrastructure, because we do not have roads we do not have a railway,” she said, when asked about oil and gas contracts with Russian companies.
According to her, the country currently produces 170,000 barrels of oil per day and plans to reach 200,000 barrels per day this year.
When asked about potential military cooperation,theministerrepliedthattherewas “nothing like that” between the two countries.
