2.1 Zelenskiy appoints ex-Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili to
head Reform Committee
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelenskiy appointed former Odessa governor and ex-Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili to the head of the Executive Committee for Reforms.
The body has no formal power and Saakashvili will act as an advisor to the president, but it puts the one time president back into the lime light.
“I sincerely congratulate Mikheil Nikolozovich on the new responsible challenge. I believe that he will be able to give impetus to the National Council of Reforms and will help in the implementation of important changes in the life of the country,” Zelenskiy said.
Also, by this decree, the head of state appointed Alexander Olshansky as deputy chairman of the Executive Committee for Reforms.
The relevant document amends the presidential decrees on a unified state reform policy in Ukraine, ensuring the activities of the National Reform Council and the Reform Executive Committee, and the provision on the National Reform Council, nv.ua reports.
