Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company has chosen Veolia for the operation and maintenance of its future wastewater treatment plant, which will treat and recycle wastewater at the rate of approx. 1,500 m 3 / h, and will also be responsible for the sludge incineration unit. A 7 years $63 million contract for Veolia, which will employ its complex facility management expertise to optimize water treatment and recycling with a goal of zero liquid discharge (ZLD).

“KIPIC is keen to partner with internationally reputed entities such as Veolia to achieve its vision of becoming a leader in operating its integrated re nery, petrochemical and LNGI facilities” said Khaled Anwar Al Awadi, KIPIC’s Deputy CeO in charge of Al Zour re nery. “Furthermore, through this contract, Veolia will also transfer its knowledge and expertise to KIPIC and Kuwaiti employees who will be employed as part of this contract. Our Local economy will also have a major stake in such contracts”.

Abiatogetmodularrefinery soon
Abia state Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has said the government would soon build modular re nery in the state.
e re nery, which is expected to be cited around the Ukwa axis, would ensure adequate supply of petroleum products.
Ikpeazu, who spoke when the management of esKOM PLC visited him at the Government House in Umuahia, described job creation as a direct link to security
and sustainable economy for those in the southeast and south south. He added that the only way forward is to create jobs for Abians.
e governor, who stressed that Agriculture and Industrialisation are fundamental to the economic vision of his administration, hinted that the modular re nery is the philosophy behind the agship project of the enyimba economic City and the proposed Agro-Industrial City.
e governor noted that his administration will not spare any e ort in providing necessary institutional support needed to get the projects working. He reinstated that the state is the sMe capital of the country, saying the state was number three in Foreign Direct Investment by the close of business in 2018 due to the prospect of the enyimba economic City Project.
Chief executive O cer of David Twin Oil West Africa Chief emmanuel Obiora, and his counterpart at esKOM, Orjiakor said the visit was to explore and cement the possibility of establishing a modular re nery in Abia.

President yoweri Museveni has given assurances that the government of Uganda is fully committed to building an oil re nery in the country.
“ e upstream is on course and the nal investment decision. We are working to ensure that the oil industry starts production. Land cannot be a problem. e building
of a re nery is a minimum. e target is to engage the oil companies for the pipeline,” he revealed.
e President made the assurance when he received and met a delegation of the Albertine Graben Re nery Consortium that was led
by the CeO of the consortium, Rajakumari Jandhyala, who called on him on Monday at state House, entebbe.
Museveni informed the delegation that the target is to use oil money for building capacity in the country.
Jandhyala who briefed the President on the progress recorded in the oil project so far said her delegation was keen to operationalise the oil industry in the country.
