with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
Speci cally, power use by the secondary industry increased by 3.1%, and that by the tertiary industry 9.4%.
Some 28 provincial regions saw a growth in electricity consumption, with the use in three regions expanding over 10%.
In June alone, the country’s power use grew 5.5 percent year on year, 3.2 percentage points higher than that in May, said Meng.
NDRC data also showed that China’s power generation expanded 3.3 percent year on year in H1, 0.9 percentage points lower than that registered in the rst quarter.
Fast growth was seen in greener power generation, with the generation of nuclear power surging 23.1%, hydropower growing 11.8% and solar power increasing 11.2%.
Power generation in June grew 2.8% year on year, 2.6 percentage points faster than that recorded in May, according to the NDRC.

Canadian Solar opens first project in Vietnam
Canadian Solar has completed construction work and begun commercial operations at the 15MW Chu Ngoc Solar Project in Vietnam.
e NASDAQ-listed Canadian company developed the facility, owned by Vietnam’s Licogi 16, as a third-party Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) project
with local partners IPC Technique and SD668 Vietnam.
is was the Canadian rm’s rst third- part EPC contract in the country
“We are pleased to have completed the project with joint e orts from IPC Technique JSC and SD668 Vietnam JSC. is partnership with Licogi 16 JSC further expands our presence in Vietnam. We are committed to delivering more projects in Vietnam as we further expand our close to 1GWp global
EPC project pipeline,” said Canadian Solar chairman Shawn Qu.
e solar plant covers an area of approximately 20 hectares and is located near Phu Tuc, Dong Nai Province, Vietnam.
It reached commercial operation in June 2019 and over 45,500 of Canadian Solar’s 1500V MaxPower modules (CS6U-P) were installed on xed tilt racking systems.
e solar plant will produce enough electricity to meet the needs of more than 3,800 homes and displace nearly 8,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
Total Eren, EDF Renewables
sign PPA for 716 MW of
Indian solar
Total Eren and EDF Renewables have singed four25-year long term Power Purchase Agreements(PPA) for four solar power projects with 716MW of installed capacity in
northern India.
e projects were awarded to EDEN
Renewables India, the two partners’ solar photovoltaic joint venture in India.
EDEN Renewables India the rst PPA with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 450MW solar project Rajasthan.
In May, it signed three PPAs for two 98MW solar projects and one 70MW project with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) in Uttar Pradesh.
With a planned production of nearly 1,200 GWh per year, these solar PV projects will generate the energy required to meet the annual electricity needs of 1.1 million Indian households.
eir construction is due to start by the end of this year and commissioning is expected towards the end of 2020.
“ ese large-scale projects are a lever for local economic development, they enable us to strengthen our presence in India and consider new projects in this country which represents a strategic market for EDF Renewables.
ese landmark projects t perfectly with the EDF Group’s Cap 2030 strategy of doubling
its renewable energy capacity in operation between 2015 and2030 in France and worldwide,” said Frédéric Belloy, executive vice president international operations at EDF Renewables.
