IPChain, Tashkent sign deal on blockchain- based intellectual property rights
Major crypto mining farm opens in Armenia
The Russian National Intellectual Property Transactions Coordina- tion Center (IPChain) and the municipal authorities of the Uzbek capital Tashkent have signed an agreement with the aim of relying on blockchain technologies to develop cooperation in copyright pro- tection and patent records, according to a statement from IPChain.
The agreement is set to increase the access of Russian IT and blockchain businesses to Uzbekistan’s IP market, while simultane- ously providing better protection for Uzbek IP holders in Russia and Uzbekistan. Uzbek authorities hope to rely on blockchain technolo- gies to monetise intellectual property rights, the statement noted.
The decree includes the development of a legal framework to rec- ognise and legalise the crypto and blockchain sector by outlining a “highly favourable” tax position.
A new crypto mining farm that claims to be one of the largest in the world has opened in the Armenian capital Yerevan.
According to local media reports, the farm is a joint venture between Armenian’s Multi Group which was founded by Gagik Tsarukyan, whose Tsarukyan Alliance is the second largest bloc in the Armenian parliament, and international mining firm Omnia Tech.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian, who recently talked of the impor- tance of turning Armenia into a major tech destination, toured the facility ahead of the launch on October 18, a video posted on Om- nia’s Facebook page shows. The farm currently has 3,000 Bitcoin and Ethereum mining machines, following an investment of around $50mn, News Armenia reported.
Turkey's leading mobile phone operator Turkcell and Chinese tech- nology giant Huawei have signed an agreement to collaborate on “smart cities”, Daily Sabah reported on October 23.
Collaboration will be aimed at improving the infrastructure for smart cities in Turkey, Turkcell said in a press release. The concept of "smart cities" seeks to integrate sustainable solutions offered by new-generation technologies into all urban management process- es to solve the major problems facing metropolises.
Turkcell company chairman Ahmet Akca said cooperation with Huawei was "a great step" for Turkey to have new generation communication technologies and to play a pioneering role in 5G technology.
