    Turkey remains Georgia’s top trade partner in 2021
 47.6% of Georgia’s exports in 2021 went to CIS countries, while 16.9% went to EU states. The single largest trading partners for the country in exports were China ($616mn of total trade), followed by Russia ($610mn) and Azerbaijan ($532mn).
For imports, Georgia’s largest trading partners were Turkey ($1.824bn of trade), Russia ($1.029bn) and China ($865mn).
Copper ores and concentrates topped the list of export items, equaling $815.4mn with 19.2% of total exports, followed by ferro-alloys ($477.4mn, 11.3%) and cars ($456.6mn, 10.8%). The largest imports were cars ($899mn, or 8.2% of total imports), petroleum and petroleum oils ($823mn, 8.2%) and copper ores and concentrates ($736mn, 7.1%).
Georgia’s total trade volume with Turkey in 2021 amounted to $2.14bn. This total included exports worth $322.22mn, up 68.1% y/y, and imports of $1.82bn (a 29.6% increase y/y).
Georgia’s semi-finished export volume to Turkey increased by 54.9% in volume terms in 2021, according to new statistics presented by Geostat. Semi-finished products of iron or non-alloy steel were fifth among Georgia’s most exported products to Turkey, with a total volume of 47,121 metric tonnes, a 54.9% increase y/y. The value of these exports was $25.82mn, a growth of 132.6% y/y.
Turkey remains one of Georgia’s top trade and economic partners. Earlier statistics from Geostat showed that Turkey was Georgia’s top overall trade partner in 2021, with $1.814bn of total trade, according to preliminary statistics (now revised to the numbers presented above). Most of the trade was Turkish exports to Georgia – for exports, Georgia’s top trading partners in 2021 were China ($616mn of total trade), followed by Russia ($610mn) and Azerbaijan ($532mn).
