US-based KBR and
Azerbaijan’s NIPIneftegas
to form joint venture in
Kazakhstan
US-based engineering company KBR and Azerbaijan’s NIPIneftegas have agreed to form a new engineering and support services firm in Kazakhstan dubbed KBR-NIPILLP, Offshore magazine reported on May 20.
The joint venture company is set to provide procurement, engineering, design and other related services for projects across the downstream, upstream and midstream oil and gas sectors in the Central Asian nation.
The JV would also handle technical requirements for contract supervision, project management, planning and cost control. It would also train and develop
the local Kazakh workforce while managing construction contractors and subcontractors at all project stages.
KBR has worked in Kazakhstan since 1993.
Azerbaijan’s oil and gas
condensate output flat in
Jan-Apr
Azerbaijan’s oil and gas condensate output was flat in January-April at 12.4mn tonnes versus 12.44mn tonnes in the same period last year, the Energy Ministry said on May 21.
Natural gas output grew to 13.4bn cubic metres (bcm) from 11.6 bcm.
Also in January-April, Azerbaijan exported 10.26mn tonnes of oil, around 106,000 tonnes down year on year. Of the exported oil, 9.8mn tonnes was produced by a BP-led international consortium
and 409,000 tonnes was produced by Azerbaijani national oil company Socar.
The data showed that natural gas exports
from Azerbaijan to Turkey and Georgia amounted to 4.6 bcm.
Kazakhstan tightens
lockdown measures at
Karachaganak oilfield
Kazakhstan tightened lockdown measures at its largest oil field, Karachaganak, after the first case of a coronavirus (COVID-19) infection was confirmed among personnel, authorities said on May 25.
Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO), the giant field’s operator, confirmed its first coronavirus case on May 22.
The chief sanitary doctor in Western Kazakhstan Region, where the oil field is based, ordered an effective 7pm-7am curfew at Karachaganak workers’ camps and barred vehicles from entering and leaving the field.
The doctor’s order also requires all workers arriving at the field to pass coronavirus tests..
