Turkish manufacturing activity returned to contraction in October as new orders slowed, according to the latest purchasing managers' index (PMI) compiled for manufacturing in Turkey, released on November 1 by theIstanbul Chamber of Industry and IHS Markit.
Prior to September, when it came in at ‘no change’, Turkey's manufacturing activity contracted for 17 consecutive months.
The manufacturing PMI fell slightly to 49.0 last month, from 50.0 in September. Any figure below the 50-point line denotes contraction.
The growth seen in September was reversed in October due to new orders weakening, the PMI panel said. It pointed to demand weakness in domestic and export markets.
