NEWS IN BRIEF

DTM-5H was drilled with the Borr Norve jackup rig in 116 metres of water depth as a horizontal production well in the Gamba reservoir. A long horizontal section of good quality oil-saturated Gamba sands was penetrated and completed and the subsea tree installed ready for hook up. The rig has now moved on location and spud the DTM-6H, and will drill the fifth and sixth devel- opment wells in the Tortue field.

SeaBird Exploration issues
update on West Africa
contract schedule
SeaBird have now received a letter of award for provision of source services for two OBN sur- veys to be carried out in West Africa, with an expected total duration of about 80 days. The first survey is expected to start in April 2020 and the second survey will follow immediately after. SeaBird will use the Eagle Explorer for both surveys.
The time charter agreement with EMGS for the Petrel Explorer originally contained two options for EMGS to extend the contract by six months each. The first of these two options has been converted to six monthly options. EMGS has declared the first option, meaning that the charter period for the Petrel Explorer is now firm until April 30, 2020.
SeaBird is a global provider of marine acqui- sition for 2D/3D and 4D seismic data, and asso- ciated products and services to the oil and gas industry. SeaBird specialises in high quality operations within the high end of the source vessel and 2D market, as well as in the shallow/ deep water 2D/3D and 4D market.

SAExploration announces
$42mn of new projects
in offshore West Africa
SAExploration Holdings today announced two new projects in offshore West Africa. The pro- jects are valued at approximately $42mn in the aggregate and are scheduled to occur primarily during Q2-2020 and last approximately 71 days. Services to be provided will include 3D/4D data acquisition utilising autonomous ROV-deployed nodal recording technology in water depths up to 1,700 metres.
Michael Faust, Chairman, President and CEO of SAE, commented, “We are very pleased
to be awarded these projects, which is further evidence of our customers’ confidence in our ability to deliver high quality datasets in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. A high priority for us is to improve our balance sheet. The sale of non-core assets to reduce debt has been an important tool to deliver on that priority.”
SAE is an international oilfield services com- pany offering a full range of vertically-integrated seismic data acquisition, data processing and interpretation, and logistical support services throughout North America, South America, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. In addi- tion to the acquisition of 2D, 3D, time-lapse 4D and multi-component seismic data on land, in transition zones and offshore in depths reach- ing 3,000 metres, SAE offers a full suite of data processing and interpretation services utilising its proprietary, patent-protected software, and also provides in-house logistical support ser- vices, such as program design, planning and permitting, camp services and infrastructure, surveying, drilling, environmental assessment and reclamation, and community relations. INVESTMENT
TGS to offer new seismic
data to support Senegal’s
first offshore bidding round
The national oil company of Senegal, Petrosen, has officially launched the country’s first ever offshore licensing round at the MSGBC Basin Summit & Exhibition in Dakar, Senegal. The licensing round comprises 12 blocks on offer in
the MSGBC Basin, offshore Senegal. Companies will be able to submit bids over the coming six months, with final applications delivered to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy at the latest by Friday, July 31, 2020.
TGS, which provides a library of multi-cli- ent geoscience data to oil and gas exploration & production (E&P) companies worldwide, holds a range of data across this acreage to sup- port the licensing round, including 2D seismic, 3D seismic, multi-beam and seafloor sampling solutions.
TGS is also partnering with GeoPartners on an active 3D seismic acquisition to acquire addi- tional regional data so that interested parties can gain greater subsurface understanding ahead of bid submissions.
This latest stand-alone survey (SN-UDO-19) is located in northern Senegal and is an extension to the recently completed SS-UDO-19 3D acqui- sition in southern Senegal. The survey has been designed to illuminate plays in ultra-deepwater, enabling explorers to build upon the success the basin has experienced with the Sangomar field, the GTA complex and Yakaar discoveries. The SN-UDO-19 survey is over 70% complete, with fast track data available during the second quar- ter of 2020. The full dataset will be available by Q42020.
Following the license round launch at the King Fahd Hotel, Dakar, further events are planned this year - in London on 20th February and in Houston on 25th February.
The Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guin- ea-Bissau and Guinea Conakry (MSGBC) Basin is home to several recent high-profile oil and gas discoveries, both on and off the shelf. The palaeo shelf-edge carbonate trend extending south of the Sangomar field and the expanse of prospec- tive area outboard of this to the north and south have led many explorers to the region.
