Russia dominates the list of Central and Eastern European academic institutions in the QS World University Rankings 2018 published on June 12, with the region’s top three universities located there and 30 from the country appearing in the overall ranking.
According to the annual ranking by the British education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), which compiles the list using six metrics including academic reputation and employer reputation, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology topped the list for the sixth year running, followed by Stanford, Harvard and Caltech – all in the US. Europe entered the list next with the UK’s Cambridge, Oxford, University College London and Imperial College London. In fact, of the top 100 institutions listed, 47 are in the US and the UK, including nine of the top ten.
