Delfin given another
extension for Louisiana
FLNG project
e US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has granted Del n LNG a second one-year extension until September 2021 to complete its proposed oating LNG (FLNG) export project o shore Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico.
Del n had initially been authorised by the FERC to build the facility by September 2019. It requested a 3.5-year extension in June 2019, but was initially only granted one more year, until September 2020, to complete the project.
e company requested a second one- year extension in June 2020, and was granted it on July 15. However, even before taking into account the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Del n was running behind schedule, having previously been targeting a nal investment decision (FID) in 2020 and start-up in mid-2024.
e FLNG project would use existing o shore pipelines to supply gas to up to four vessels that could produce up to 13mn tonnes per year (tpy) of LNG or 1.7bn cubic feet per day of natural gas.
