The Deepsea Yantai semi-sub is expected to work on the two Dugong wells between 44 and 90 days.
The rig is owned by Odfjell Drilling and built at the CIMC Raffles yard in China. It was completed in 2016.
The Deepsea Yantai, formerly named Beacon Atlantic, was hired by Neptune Energy for up to 16 wells offshore Norway back in March 2019. Odfjell Drilling then employed more than 200 personnel in Norway for work on the Deepsea Nordkapp and Deepsea Yantai semi-submersibles, which joined the company’s fleet.
The most recent consent for the use of the Deepsea Yantai was given to Neptune Energy in early December 2019.
The consent was for 35/9-15 and 35/9- 15A wells which belong to production license 153 in blocks 35/9 and 36/7.
Work on the well was scheduled to begin in December 2019 and was estimated to last for at least 56 days.
Bosnia eyes Croatian LNG
Bosnian natural gas grid operator BH Gas has completed the preliminary design for the 160- km long Southern Interconnection project.
The preliminary design for the project connecting the natural gas networks of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia was delivered at the end of April, the company said in its statement.
BH Gas secured EU grants through the JASPERS scheme to fund the preliminary
design as well as the review of the design. The project, named Southern
Interconnection, will enable Bosnia and Herzegovina to diversify its supply sources. The two networks are planned to connect at the Croatian town of Zagvozd leading to the Bosnian towns of POsušje and Novi Travnik with a tie-in to Mostar.
Additionally, the project will enable Bosnia and Herzegovina to source volumes at the Croatian LNG terminal under construction on the island of Krk.
The preliminary design was completed by the Mot MacDonald-Connecta consortium. In addition to the preliminary design, an environmental assessment of the project is being carried out.
Currently, Bosnia and Herzegovina is dependent on natural gas supplies from Russia.
The Croatian LNG terminal is designed to transport up to 2.6bn cubic meters
per year (bcm/y) of natural gas into the Croatian national transmission network as of 2021.
Golar LNG’s LNG carrier, Golar Viking, has been selected for FSRU conversion. The vessel is scheduled to arrive on location on the island of Krk in October this year.

Petrofac, an oilfield services provider, has secured contract renewals in the UK totalling
$100mn.
Petrofac’s Engineering & Production
Services business (EPS) has been awarded two three-year renewals in the UK, the company said on May 6.
Both awards come with options to extend beyond the initial term.
The awards were gained under a competitive tender process with an international oil company.
They involve the provision of duty holder support services for an offshore support vessel, and operations and maintenance services for an oil and gas development project and gas terminal.
Nick Shorten, Managing Director for Petrofac’s EPS business in the Western Hemisphere, commented: “These new contracts with a long-standing client are an excellent example of our ability to scale and integrate our service provision in line with their latest requirements.
“We very much look forward to combining our extensive operations’ experience and digital technology programme to deliver sustainably efficient support on these contracts”.
