Oil contamination detected
in Russia’s Druzhba
pipeline again
Elevated contamination has been detected in the southern line of troubled Russian pipeline Druzhba, Reuters reported on June 24 citing the STK news agency reports. Reportedl showed that all values are in order. Receiving oil from the Druzhba oil pipeline to Unipetrol should be renewed today.”
As reported in May, the transit of Russian oil via Druzhba pipeline has not yet been resumed due to persisting technical problems in Poland and Germany, and the uncertainty over the mechanisms of compensation for botched supplied of crude to European re neries.
e ongoing troubles with high levels of chlorine in Druzhba and Ust-Luga port have cut Russia’s oil exports by 3.22% in May as compared to April, while oil output declined by 1.1%. Most recent reports claimed that Russian oil pipeline monopoly Transne expects operations at the troubled Druzhba pipeline
to return to normal and run at full capacity
in 2-3 months. In the meantime Russia is expected to take a stance on prolonging the Opec+ oil output cut deal, and continued di culties with Druzhba might add pressure to the government to compensate domestic oil producers for lower output.
e next round of negotiations on the prolongation of the deal is scheduled for July 1-2, and it has already been postponed from June 25-26.

Equinor to drill first Aypara well in Q1 2020
Norway’s Equinor is planning to drill its rst exploration well at the Aypara structure o the shore of Azerbaijan in the rst quarter of next year, the company has said.
Equinor signed a production-sharing agreement (PSA) for the Ashra -Dan Ulduzu- Aypara (ADUA) block in the Caspian Sea with Azeri state oil company SOCAR last year. e area was previously explored by a consortium of SOCAR, BP, Japan’s Itochu and US-based Unocal and Delta HESS in the late 1990s.
But the investors relinquished rights in 2000 a er failing to nd commercial hydrocarbon resources.
