TIME PROVEN PARTNERSHIP
WHAT IS IIB?
The International Investment Bank (IIB) is a UN registered multi- lateral development bank founded in 1970 with nine members around the world.
The goal of the bank is to promote cross-border integration and the economic development of its members: Bulgaria, Cuba, Czech Republic, Hungary, Mongolia, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and Vietnam.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
IIB’s supports SMEs by funding local partner banks, finances so- cially significant infrastructure projects and provides trade credits to promote the export-import operations of its member states.
WHY IIB?
IIB is a fully-fledged international financial institution, but with
a local focus on its member states. Like the other IFIs, the bank operates with the privileged partner status in member states and enjoys substantial support from the governments of its members.
IIB offers an individual approach to assessing and funding trans- actions and projects based on its unparalleled local knowledge, as well as integration projects between member states.
Given the bank’s narrower focus and long-term perspective IIB can be more flexible than commercial banks when considering the terms and conditions of financing projects.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
A key part of IIB’s mandate is to promote environmentally responsible projects.
• IIB has given €200,000 in grants to environmental initiatives in Hungary, Mongolia, Russia, and Vietnam.
• IIB is a member of the United Nations Global Compact – the world’s largest sustainable development initiative.
• IIB is championing a scheme to issue specialized “water bonds” to fund environmental programmes.

"The International Investment Bank was founded nearly five decades ago and re-launched in 2012 to become a modern multilateral institution for development. IIB’s unique history makes it a bridge connecting Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, Asia and Latin America. The bank’s longevity coupled with its on-the-ground knowledge of its member states makes IIB the partner of choice for other international financial institutions and investors. We promote social development, prosperity, and economic cooperation between member states and beyond".
