design of the Tesla model, Digiato reported on January 9.
It is thought that the IKCO Tara all-electric-version will be released to the market by April.
Davoud Khosravi, CEO of Jetco, said the Tara sedan was an ideal model for conversion into an EV due to its modern platform derived from the Peugeot 301 .
He added that smaller parts of the Tara EV concept model were designed and built entirely in Iran, including electric motors and batteries.
Testing on the electric Tara’s power train is in preparation for the second generation Samand sedan model, which, it is anticipated, will be introduced by the company during this year, according to previous local reports.
"Operation of an electric car is not possible just by producing a car because the use of an electric car requires the creation of a platform and infrastructure in the country, such as fast-charging stations, which is not the responsibility of the car manufacturer,” Khosravi also said.
He added: "Electric car charging stations should be set up nationwide to charge electric cars in 20 minutes. It is also necessary to create conditions for owners' private parking lots to charge a car in five to eight hours."
He continued: "Currently, in the world, a significant part of the cost of an electric car is related to the battery pack, which accounts for between 35% and 45% of the car price, and in all countries, government subsidies are allocated to the buyer of an electric car, which makes up part of the cost.”

Tehran-Yerevan-Teh ran flights resume with Iran Airtours
Longstanding plans to privatise Iran Air scrapped
Iran Airtour, a subsidiary of IranAir, relaunched Tehran-Yerevan-Tehran flights on January 1, Aysor Armenia reported.
The previously popular route with Iranians looking for leisurely pursuits in neighbouring Armenia was halted due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The flights will operate twice a week, running on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Tickets will be available online in Iran via the airline’s website and in Armenia through a representative office.
International Airports of Armenia CJSC responded with a congratulatory message to the Iranian air operator, saying “We congratulate our colleagues and wish you safe flights” .
Trade links between the neighbours have strengthened in recent months. Iranian tourists will be important to Armenia as the country attempts to reconstitute its tourism industry following the worst impacts of the pandemic.
Longstanding plans to privatise flag carrier IranAir have reportedly been scrapped over concerns that the airline might be dogged by future financial problems under a non-state owner.
Iran’s Transportation Minister Mohammad Eslami was cited by Press TV as saying that the government decided to remove IranAir from its privatisation list following discussions between ministers that determined there was a risk of insolvency for the carrier after a few years of operations under private ownership.
“This company was available for privatisation for several years. However, the situation was not ripe for such a divestment because what would take place in practice could cause harm,” the minister said.
IranAir, founded just after WWII and known in Iran as Homa, is the largest airline in Iran. It operates both domestic and international routes.
The airline has faced financial difficulties in recent years caused by US
