Half a million Ukrainians pay social security taxes in Poland, according to Bankier, a Polish business news site. 4.5.2 Nominal wages dynamics
Real wages in Ukraine increased 9.7% y/y in September, accelerating from 6.0% y/y growth in August, the State Statistics Service reported on October 28. The average monthly nominal wage amounted to UAH11,998 a month ($429), increasing from UAH11,446 in August, or 4.3% m/m in real terms.
The leading regions for average monthly wages were the city of Kyiv (UAH17,253), Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk (UAH12,981) and the Kyiv region (UAH12,109). The largest nominal average wage increase was in “other services” (37.7% y/y), medicine and social services (29.1% y/y), and education (20.7% y/y).
Within the industrial sector, the highest growth of nominal wages was in electricity and gas supply (25.4% y/y), water supply (20.0% y/y), and wood, paper and polygraphy production (11.4% y/y).
Apparently, the rise of the minimum wage to UAH5,000 a month starting September 1 was an additional factor in wage growth accelerating significantly.
