ALP selected for Coral South FLNG project
ALP Maritime Services (ALP) is pleased to announce that the company has been selected by TJJV, a Joint Venture between TechnipFMC and JGC, to provide a spread of ve vessels related to the Coral South project.
ALP’s project involvement includes the tow- age operation from South Korea to Offshore Mozambique, by three of ALP’s 300ts Bollard Pull ALP FUTURE class vessels. On arrival at the o shore site, the three ALP FUTURE class vessels will be joined by two additional vessels from the ALP 19,000 BHP eet. Together, the vessels will keep the CORAL SUL FLNG (432 metres long and 66 metres wide) accurately in position, while a mooring vessel connects the pre-laid mooring chains to the FLNG. On com- pletion of the mooring operation, two of the ve ALP-vessels will continue to support further operations on site.
Arjan van de Merwe, Project Manager of ALP
commented: “ALP is very proud to have been selected for this project. It is the rst deepwater FLNG build to date, and it is the rst oating production plant to be installed in Mozambique and on the all African East Coast.
“Our clients recognise the added value of ALP’s services. ALP’s vessels are purposely designed to o er safe and cost-e cient project execution of both the transport and prolonged station-keeping requirements. Our vessels have the endurance to perform the towage non-stop, while complying with stringent in- eld vessel speci cations expected when operating in close vicinity of the FLNG for extended duration. O ering these versatile qualities in a single ves- sel o ers our Clients the opportunity to use the same vessel for various phases of the project at any remote location world-wide.
“ is contract involves a combination of our 24,400 BHP units and our 19,000 BHP units, tai- lored to our Client’s requirements. Within each vessel segment we operate a number of vessels. That offers ALP optimum vessel scheduling exibility while o ering our client guaranteed availability whenever the FLNG is delivered at the shipyard and ready for departure.”

from Tripoli Port after
strike near LPG ship
National Oil Corp. (NOC) of Libya con rms that fuel vessels have evacuated urgently from Tripoli port and all o -loading operations were cancelled a er projectiles struck meters away from a highly explosive liquid petroleum gas (LPG) tanker discharging in the port.
NOC Chairman Mustafa Sanalla said: “Today’s attack on Tripoli port could have led to a humanitarian and environmental disaster, and it will have a signi cant impact on a crowded region like Tripoli. e city does not have opera- tional fuel storage facilities, as the capital’s main storage warehouse was evacuated as a result of the ghting on Airport Road area, where the warehouse is located. e consequences will be immediate; hospitals, schools, power stations and other vital services will be disrupted. We condemn this behaviour in the strongest possi- ble terms and ask the international community to intervene rapidly to prevent a serious escala- tion in the con ict and to allow NOC to manage fuel supplies.”
Following the attack, the LPG tanker and a gasoline tanker that were in Tripoli immediately le the port for safe waters. NOC is exploring alternative ways to supply Tripoli and its sur- roundings with fuel.
