     The draft budget for next year includes $75 million for the development of the national aircraft industry, Prime Minister Shmyhal says. “This includes research, new developments, and modernization of aircraft,” he says. Last Friday, Shmyhal visited the Lutsk Motor Repair Plant, which maintains turbojet engines for jets and helicopters. With new American, German and Swiss equipment, the plant employs about 1,000 workers and is part of the Ukroboronprom conglomerate.
Boryspil's passenger traffic recovered by 71% in October 2021. Ukraine’s leading transport hub served 1,031,111 passengers (653,540 were regular passengers, 377,571 were non-scheduled). At the same time, in October 2019, the airport served 1,445,800 passengers (of which 1,034,921 were regular passengers, 410,912 were non-scheduled). Compared to pre-crisis levels in October 2019, passenger traffic resumed by 71%.
Antonov has signed a five-year contract with NATO, which gives the Alliance the right to use Antonov Airlines aircraft in emergencies, reported the press service of Antonov Airlines. Antonov has been participating in the NATO SALIS program since December 2018. The current contract is valid until December 31, 2021.
Ukraine and the EU agreed on the next steps for the implementation of the Common Aviation Area Agreement and discussed the removal of barriers to trade. The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Olga Stefanishina, met with the European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Velyan, in Brussels. They discussed the implementation in Ukraine of the provisions of the Common Aviation Area Agreement with the EU (CAP), the inclusion of Ukrainian rivers in the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), and the settlement of the number of permits for Ukrainian freight transportation, reported kmu.gov.ua.

The level of localization of production of freight cars purchased by UZ will exceed 95%. This will include a total of 45,000 new grain trucks and gondola cars are planned to be purchased with the assistance of the Ministry of Infrastructure, which will launch a state leasing program in 2022. The Minister of Infrastructure, Kubrakov, noted that UZ would also upgrade its rolling stock in the coming years.
Ukraine Railroads (UZ) has increased tariffs for freight transportation will additionally attract ₴14.3bn ($545mn). The reform of the tariff setting for freight transportation by rail will allow attracting an additional ₴14.3bn for large-scale infrastructure projects that will be implemented at UZ. The tariffs for freight transportation now correspond to market realities, and the funds received from this will be used this year for critical projects for the country to update the infrastructure of the Ukraine Railroad.
