Gazprom Neft reports finds in Orenburg

RUSSIA’S Gazprom Neft has announced the discovery of two new oil elds in the southern Russian region of Orenburg, days a er its rival Rosne  also reported a  nd in the area.
Based on preliminary data, Gazprom Ne  estimates the pair hold more than 2mn tonnes (14.7mn barrels) of oil combined.
The Yagodnoye field was identified at the Yagodny licence area, Gazprom Ne ’s local arm Gazpromneft-Orenburg said in a statement on January 31. Commercial flows of oil were achieved during well tests, it said. Reserves have been calculated, a dra  plan for trial production has been drawn up and development will begin in the near future, the company said.
A second  eld, Roshchinskoye, was founded at the Uransky licence area, Gazprom Ne  con- tinued. Planning is underway, the company said, noting that trial production was slated to start in 2021.

Gazprom Ne  launched trial production at one of the Uransky  elds, Novozarinskoye, last year.  e deposit is estimated to be 10mn tonnes (73.3mn barrels) in size.
“Gazpromneft-Orenburg is increasing its resource base by discovering new fields and structures with exploration work, as well as expanding the boundaries of existing assets,” the subsidiary’s deputy general director, Alexey Pashkov, said in a statement.
Rosne  also struck oil in Orenburg on Janu- ary 27, identifying an oil eld more than 51mn barrels in size – its largest discovery in the region in several years. It plans to bring the  eld into production by tying it back to existing infra- structure. ™

A representative of Germany’s Uniper, one of the companies that  nanced the project, told the newspaper that it was aware of the  rm US decision to block construction of the pipeline, but declined to comment on the possible new sanctions.

Putin discusses OPEC+ cooperation with Saudi king
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz al- Saud discussed cooperation under the OPEC+ format during recent phone talks, spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
“On the whole, the issue of interaction within OPEC+ appeared yesterday during a telephone conversation between President Putin and the king of Saudi Arabia,” Peskov said, adding that Russia “is ready to cooperate in this format.”
Russia may be represented at an OPEC meeting in February if it is held, Peskov also said.
“Of course, if such meetings are held, Russia at some level may well be represented, like it was before,” he said.

Russian gov to liberalise LNG licences

on January 30 allowing the export of LNG from  elds whose licences were issued a er December 31 2012. Previously, only companies with licences issued before this date could export LNG, and if liquefaction is permitted under their licence terms.
Gazprom, Rosne  and Novatek currently are the only companies allowed to export LNG.

US may apply new sanctions to Nord Stream 2
The US Congress may approve new sanctions against Russia’s Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline targeting investors and the companies that receive gas through the pipeline, German business newspaper Handelsblatt reported
on February 4 quoting Washington’s diplomatic sources.
In case of necessity, Washington may approve the sanctions in February or March.  e Congress is ready to pass them,
