Fleet. The gondola fleet grew 536 units in April to 583,360 cars, which is 1% annualised m/m growth. This is a significant slowdown since the 3% growth in March. The tank fleet was stable at 180,513 cars.
Outlook. In May 2021, volumes were up 10% y/y (4% above the May 2019, 1% above May 2018). This was more than the 8% growth RZD had expected. For June, the monopoly sees 9% y/y growth (4% above the June 2019 level, but 2% less than June 2018). The slowdown in gondola fleet purchases and strong volumes put upward pressure on gondola rates, we think.
