Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s approval ratings went back up +2pp to 36%, the upper bound of the 2019 range (32-36%). The government’s approval rating nudged up +1pp to 44%, refreshing the upper bound of this year’s range (38- 44%), while those of the governors remained unchanged at 61% (2019 range: 56-63%). The Duma’s rating stayed the same at 37% (2019 range: 33-39%). Meanwhile, the share of positive answers to the question “Is Russia moving in the right direction?” slipped below 50%, -1pp to 49% (2019 range: 42-50%).
Almost three-quarters of Russia's residents (72%) believe that the Russian authorities should limit the flow of foreign citizens who come to Russia to earn money, according to a Levada Center poll received by Interfax. According to the results of a sociological study, only every tenth Russian citizen holds the opposite point of view (9% of the survey participants), while 15% of respondents are indifferent to the migration policy of the authorities. The survey data show an increase in the proportion of fellow citizens who do not welcome the influx of foreign labor. So, in July 2017, this opinion was shared by 58% of Russians, a year later their number reached 67%. In addition, the survey indicates a decrease in the proportion of Russians who consider it useful to facilitate the influx of labor migrants from abroad into the Russian Federation: last year, 14% of respondents thought so.
