million, Vietnam bene ts from both Federal and Provincial government commitment to cleaner sources of energy. e country’s total LNG demand is estimated to reach 10 million tons per year by 2030 and much is expected to be imported from the United States.
e MoU between Chart and ECV further supports ECV’s collaboration with Korea Gas Corporation (“KOGAS”) for the development of a privately-funded lique ed natural gas (LNG) regasi cation terminal, storage, gas supply system and 3,200 MW gas- red power project near Mui Ke Ga, Binh uan Province, Vietnam.
“As the global LNG infrastructure buildout continues in over 70 countries, we are pleased to partner with ECV and other like-minded companies to accelerate a cleaner future in Vietnam,” said Jill Evanko, Chart’s CEO. “In addition to our MoU’s with AG&P and IOCL from earlier this year, this MoU allows us to

Icebreaker due to enter
service at Yamal LNG
terminal
A 12-MW diesel-electric port icebreaker is due to begin operating shortly at Novatek’s Yamal LNG project in Russia.
e Ob icebreaker was designed by Aker Arctic and built at Vyborg Shipyard. e 89.2-metre vessel is designed to support LNG carriers’ year-round operability at Yamal LNG.
e vessel has already been delivered to owner and operator FSUE Atom ot.
e Ob has a diesel-electric propulsion system consisting of four ABB Azipod ICE 1400 propulsion units. Two of the units are located in the ship’s bow and two in the stern. is propulsion con guration has previously not been used in any icebreaking vessel, but it was selected to provide maximum operability in the thick ice that forms in the harbour basin in the area.
e Ob can break up ice with a thickness of up to 1.5 metres. e vessel’s all-azimuthing quad-screw propulsion con guration enables good manoeuvrability and control when operating in proximity to large LNG carriers.
Aker Arctic began developing the port eet for the LNG plant in co-operation with the Yamal LNG project in 2012.
