        Online leisure and entertainment sales reached TRY700mn, marking a 33% rise. The electronics market saw an 18% increase in online sales to TRY4bn.
The share of transactions made via mobile devices was 60% of total sales.
Annual e-commerce growth in Turkey averaged 35% between 2015 and 2019, TUBISAD also said.
The association did not provide a forecast for 2020 but it noted that many retailers have moved their operations to online platforms given the effects on brick and mortar outlets of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which is very likely to boost online sales volumes this year.
“People and businesses that had never used digital platforms before have become part of the online community, thus we expect a positive impact from this change of attitude on e-commerce,” said Kubra Karaca from TUBISAD.

    The Turkish Trade Ministry ​said​ on May 4 that imports fell 32.2% and exports 41.6% in April, according to the special trade system. That saw Turkey’s trade deficit widen 13.4% y/y to $3.4bn.
Turkey could expect external trade to contract by around a quarter this year, according to the ​EC​.
