AG&P breaks ground on
its LNG import facility at
Karaikal Port, Puducherry,
expanding access to
naturalgasfordownstream
customers in South India
AG&P, the global downstream gas and LNG logistics company, has broken ground on
its LNG Import Facility at Karaikal Port, Puducherry, paving the way to broader access to natural gas as a primary fuel in South India. e Karaikal LNG import facility is expected to commence commercial operations by Q4 2021.
Owned and operated by AG&P, Karaikal LNG import facility is being built on a 12-hectare site within the Karaikal Port, which enjoys the only deep-water access on the
East Coast of India south of Chennai, with all-weather capabilities and 24/7 operations. Karaikal LNG, which will have an initial capacity of one million tonnes per annum (MTPA), will include a Floating Storage Unit (FSU) leased through a long-term charter agreement with ADNOC Logistics and Services (ADNOC L&S) from 2021, providing an e cient solution that will enable the supply of this clean fuel to be a ordable.
Strategically located 280km south of Chennai and in close proximity to Tamil Nadu’s thriving manufacturing clusters, the new terminal will provide natural gas to power plants, industrial and commercial customers within a 300 km radius. In addition, Karaikal LNG will serve the important city gas networks of AG&P and
other city gas companies that bring CNG and LNG to vehicles and piped natural gas to households and other establishments. Truck loading bays will enable delivery of LNG to remote customers by AG&P’s own eet of trucks.

Excelerate Technical Managementreceives interim documents of compliance from the Marshall Islands and Belgium
e Republic of the Marshall Islands and
the Government of Belgium have awarded Interim Documents of Compliance (DoC) under the International Safety Management (ISM) Code to Excelerate Technical Management (ETM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Excelerate Energy. e ISM DoC authorises ETM to operate as ship manager for Excelerate’s entire eet of oating storage and regasi cation units (FSRUs). e Interim DoC is the result of an audit of ETM’s safety management system, con rming compliance with ISM standards which ensure the safe operation of its crew and vessels.

Excelerate’s FSRU Experience is the rst
of its vessels under ETM ship management. e vessel recently le Navantia dry docks
in Fene-Ferrol, Spain, on February 6, 2020, where she underwent scheduled maintenance and upgrades. Also, while in dry dock,
the FSRU was rebranded and painted in Excelerate’s brand colours and design, the rst of the eet. Excelerate will transition its entire eet to ETM ship management by the end of 2020.

Nauticor, Fassmer team up on LNG
Two German companies, LNG supplier Nauticor and special-purpose vessel manufacturer Fr. Fassmer, have announced that they are co-operating on newbuilding and retro tting projects for LNG-fuelled ships. e rst project carried out by the new partnership was the commissioning and initial LNG bunkering of the research vessel Atair at Fassmer’s shipyard on February 6, 2020.
Atair is due to enter service this year, replacing a ship with the same name.
Fassmer was awarded the contract to build the new sea-surveying, wreck-search and research vessel for the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). Nauticor was responsible for purchasing and delivering the LNG for the initial bunkering operation, providing support to Fassmer. Nauticor will also supply LNG to the vessel over the course of the LNG trial period.
