 Anglo-Eastern and EXMAR
Ship Management to join
forces with new JV
Anglo-Eastern Univan Group and EXMAR Ship Management have announced the formation of a joint venture dedicated to
the newbuilding supervision and vessel management of LNG carriers for third-party owners.
The joint venture, AEX LNG Management, brings together two of the leading names
in ship management and LNG ship management, with more than 80 years of combined industry experience.
Based in Singapore, AEX LNG Management will draw on EXMAR’s niche expertise in the LNG sector, while leveraging the systems, resources and global reach of Anglo-Eastern to provide specialist services for the growing LNG carrier market. Services will include newbuilding planning and supervision, ship management, crewing,
and training via Anglo-Eastern’s network of strategically located maritime training centres and state-of-the-art simulators.
“I look forward to combining EXMAR’s unique competencies in the LNG space with our crewing and training solutions in order to offer our customers a platform for LNG ship management that carries the same depth and strength as we have in our other tanker segments,” said Peter Cremers, Executive Chairman of AngloEastern.
Said Nicolas Saverys, Chairman of EXMAR Ship Management, “I am sure that our vast LNG ship management expertise (since 1974) in combination with the global network of Anglo-Eastern will create exciting synergies that will change the third-party LNG ship management game”. Woodside and Uniper sign
HoA for long-term LNG
supply
Woodside Energy Trading Singapore has signed a heads of agreement (HoA) with Uniper Global Commodities for the supply
of LNG from Woodside’s portfolio for a period of 13 years commencing in 2021. The quantity of LNG to be supplied will initially be up to 0.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), increasing to approximately 1 mtpa from
2025. Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said the HoA, signed at Gastech in Houston, builds on previous LNG supply arrangements between Woodside and Uniper.
“This HOA deepens our relationship with Uniper, an international energy company and a leading player in global gas markets.
“It is also another strong signal of market support for our plans to expand the Pluto LNG facility in Western Australia. The addition of a second LNG production train
at Pluto, to be supplied with gas from the Scarborough offshore field development, is a key element of our proposed Burrup Hub,” he said.
“Uniper is committed to growing its LNG Trading business in both the Atlantic and Pacific basins. This HoA with Woodside, one of Asia-Pacific’s leading LNG producers, is
a further demonstration of the expansion of our portfolio in the region,” said Uniper CEO Keith Martin.
The HoA remains conditional upon the negotiation and execution of a fully termed LNG sale and purchase agreement, obtaining all necessary approvals and, with respect to supply from 2025, a final investment decision on the Scarborough development.
