GeoPark and PeruPetro had previously stated that they hoped Morona would eventually yield 10,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd), which is equal to around 25% of Peru’s current crude output. However, the project has been on hold for some time.
In April of this year, GeoPark said in a state- ment that it had taken steps to prevent workers at the block from being infected by or spread- ing the coronavirus. It said it had “reduced its activities to a minimum and con ned company personnel to the Morona Camp, in line with the obligatory self-isolation [policy]” a er the Peruvian government declared a national state of emergency on March 15.
Since that date, it said, “no GeoPark employee has visited, met or been in physical contact with

anyone in the communities in the areas of direct or indirect in uence of the Morona project, in order to guarantee the health and welfare of the indigenous populations in these areas.”.™
BRAZIL’S National Agency of Petroleum, Natu- ral Gas and Biofuels (ANP) is preparing to o er open access to the Bolivia-Brazil gas pipeline (Gasbol) once again. Under the terms of the o er, there will be 10.08mn cubic metres per day of transport capacity made available from September 1 on the pipeline.
The agency had suspended open-access bidding in late March, saying that the corona- virus (COVID-19) pandemic had increased the level of uncertainty over gas demand. But it announced new auction terms on July 10 and is giving bidders until July 24 to register an expres- sion of interest (EoI) in third-party access.
The results of the tender are to be made
public by August 13, and ANP hopes to sign contracts-on August 27.
The new open season marks the second round of bidding for access to Gasbol capac- ity. e rst, which concluded last December, saw the national oil company (NOC) Petrobras contracting 18.08 mcm per day of capacity for 2020 and 8 mcm per day for 2021, more than any other rm.
e state-run major is barred from partic- ipating in the second open season. But Ray- mundo Santos, Brazil’s ambassador to Bolivia, has said previously that Brazilian rms from at least six states are interested in buying Bolivian gas.
