Waikiki, the French-inspired, Turkish-owned fashion retailer plans to triple its Ukraine stores, to 90 by 2023​, the company reports. With 32 stores in Ukraine today, Waikiki plans to open in coming weeks its largest store ever – a two-level, 1,880 square meter store in River Mall, on Kyiv’s Left Bank. Founded in 1988, the chain now has more than 990 stores in 47 countries.

Oilseed crushing volumes at Ukraine’s largest sunflower oil producer and grain trader​ ​Kernel​ rose 15.6% y/y to 1.57mmt in 1H FY20 (July-December 2019), according to its operational update published on January 21. The company’s total oil sales declined 17.5% y/y to 647 kt in 1H FY20. Kernel’s inland silos received 4.0mmt of grains and oilseeds, or a 4.0% y/y increase, while its export terminals throughput rose 28.9% y/y to 2.9mmt in 1H FY20. The company’s grain exports from Ukraine increased 24.1% y/y to 3.9mmt in 1H FY20.

Ukrainian farmer and leading sugar producer​ ​Astarta​ reported 60.9 kt in sugar sales in 4Q19​, which is 16% more y/y. Its average sugar price in the quarter amounted to UAH9.7/kg, which is 1% better y/y but 4% less qoq. Its aggregate volume of key crop sales (wheat, corn, sunflower) was 339.3 kt in 4Q19, which is 29% more y/y. The crops’ average price decreased 12% y/y and 3% qoq. Its volume of soybean oil sales fell 34% y/y to 10.6 kt, while volume of soybean meal sold advanced 32% y/y to 44.8 kt. Its milk sales dropped 11% y/y to 21.9 kt, while milk price increased 8% y/y and 9% qoq to UAH10.3/kg.​ ​ ​ ​Based on its quarterly results, Concorde Capital calculates that Astarta sold 300.7 kt of sugar in 2019 (8% less y/y) at an average price of UAH10.0/kg (-5% y/y). Its total sales of three key crops surged 62% y/y to 1,145 kt in 2019, while their average price slid 12% y/y in UAHterms. Its amount of soybean oil and meal climbed 8% and 18% to 45.9 kt and 167.1 kt, respectively, while their prices fell 10% and 15%, respectively. Its milk sales decreased 9% y/y to 94.2 kt while milk prices improved 14% y/y to UAH9.4/kg in 2019.

Astarta reported 60.9 tonnes in sugar sales in the fourth quarter of 2019, which is 16% more y/y. The farmer's average sugar price in the quarter amounted to UAH9.7/kg, which is 1% better y/y but 4% less quarter on quarter.
