ONGC Videsh makes
two new discoveries in
Colombia and Brazil
ONGC Videsh has recorded discoveries of oil in its onshore exploration block CPO-5, Colombia in the Llanos basin and major gas in the deep offshore exploration block BM- SEAL-4, Brazil in the Sergipe Alagoas Basin.
Well Sol-1, in the block CPO-5 encountered the oil bearing sands of 8 meters at a depth
of 2852m. Oil discovery in Sol-1 confirms
the extent of oil pay further south of the
block. ONGC Videsh had earlier discovered commercial oil in the same pay in wells Mariposa-1 and Indico-1 in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Both the wells are under production now.
ONGC Videsh, as Operator, holds 70% participating interest (PI) in CPO-5 block. The balance 30% PI is owned by Petrodorado South America S.A., Sucursal (PDSA), Colombia.
Petrobras as operator of BM-SEAL-4 consortium with ONGC Videsh, completed drilling of the well Moita Bonita-2 in deep offshore Brazil located in the Moita Bonita Area (block BM-SEAL-4) at a water depth of 2629m and encountered gas bearing sand of total thickness of 39m at the depth of 5227m and oil bearing sand of total thickness of 24m at deeper depths. Drill Stem Test (DST) was performed in the gas carrier interval 5252m to 5291m, and the result showed good production from the reservoir.
Petrobras is the Operator of the consortium (75% PI) and partners ONGC Videsh (25% PI). The consortium plan to continue the operational activities to evaluate the discovery to ascertain its commerciality.

Maersk Drilling awarded
three-well drillship contract
by POSCO International
Maersk Drilling has secured a contract for the 7th generation drillship Maersk Viking which will be employed by the POSCO International Corporation, a Korean operator, for a three- well campaign offshore Myanmar.
The contract is expected to commence in the end of 2019, with an estimated duration of 154 days. The value of the firm contract is USD 33m, including a mobilisation fee. An additional one- well option is included in the contract.
“We are very excited about having the opportunity to work together with the POSCO International Corporation and helping them achieve their goals. This campaign will enable us to showcase the nimbleness of our deepwater fleet, including the ability to move our floaters from
one region to another and quickly start up new operations. We look forward to demonstrating the capabilities of our 7th generation drillships in the Asian-Pacific market,” says Morten Kelstrup, COO of Maersk Drilling.
Maersk Viking is a high-spec ultra-deepwater drillship which was delivered in 2013. In August this year, Maersk Viking completed its latest campaign in Ghana, which included a well drilled at an ultra-deepwater depth of 10,125 ft. MAERSK DRILLING, October 18, 2019
Jadestone Energy submits
Vietnam field development
plan
Jadestone Energy, an independent oil and gas production company focused on the
Asia Pacific region, announces the formal submission of the field development plan (FDP), for its Nam Du and U Minh gas fields, offshore southwestern Vietnam, to Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam).
Following receipt of Petrovietnam’s endorsement, the FDP will be considered for approval by the Vietnam Government, expected to be received later this year. Approval from the Government will constitute formal development sanction for the fields.
The company has recently achieved several project milestones leading up to the FDP submission, including: Submission of a formal declaration of commercial discovery for the two fields; Finalisation of the bidder selection process for the facilities engineering, procurement, and construction contract, culminating in a binding letter of intent being issued to the successful bidder; Selection of a floating production storage and offloading vessel provider,
including provisions for leasing, operations, and maintenance, now approved by Petrovietnam; Implementation of project management plans for the execution phase of the project, including health, safety and environmental management systems, and staffing the project organisation; Receipt of amended investment licences for both fields’ production sharing contracts, confirming the company’s working interest in Block 46/07 and Block 51 is now formally registered as 100%.
As of December 31, 2017, the Nam Du and U Minh fields had gross contingent gas resources (2C) of 171.3 bcf. The company intends to begin a reserves audit process in the coming weeks, which, in addition to details of the final gas sales and purchase agreement (GSPA), will establish the 2P reserves the Company will be eligible
to record following development sanction and execution of the GSPA.
