the Central Geophysical Observatory reports on its Facebook page. With the temperature hitting 22C (72F) on Oct. 4, Kyiv’s ‘meteorological summer’ stretched to Oct. 14, an unprecedented length. In the early morning of Oct. 21, the temperature fell to 2.5C (36.5F) but then it climbed up again for the rest of October.
Ruling that the Deposit Guarantee Fund is unconstitutional would have a cataclysmic impact on Ukraine’s financial system, Kyrylo Shevchenko, Governor of National Bank of Ukraine, warned the Constitutional Court Sept. 15. The central bank head said: “I am absolutely sure that the recognition of this law as unconstitutional will destroy the system of guaranteeing individuals’ deposits, undermine confidence in the banking system, make the system as vulnerable as possible and harm the interests ofmns of depositors.”

In one year, Kyiv jumped 52 places in Resonance Consulting’s ranking of the World’s Best Cities. Today, Kyiv ranks in 87th place, just below New Orleans and Kuwait City and just above Hannover and Perth. “The city—a 1,500-year-old living encyclopedia of Slavic history—is as colorful and vibrant as its nation’s flag, with buildings painted like Ukrainian Easter eggs and the skyline topped with gold domes gleaming up the hills from the Dnipro River,” bubbles Resonance, based in Vancouver (34th place). “The city appears in our Top 100 for the first time in 2021, powered by its #28 ranking in our Sights & Landmarks category, led by All. Those. Churches.”
60% of respondents to a new poll do not trust the Constitutional Court
and an equal number support Zelenskiy’s bill to purge the membership. Among respondents who are familiar with the Court’s recent decisions, distrust rises to 80% and hostility to its rulings rises to 83%. On Monday and Tuesday, the Rating Sociological Group interviewed 2,000 people across Ukraine.
Abolition of visa-free travel to the EU – a threat aired this week by EU officials – is opposed by 55% of adults interviewed by Rating. Highest negativity was registered among: young people, residents of Kyiv and the West, and supporters of European Solidarity, Freedom, the Voice and the Servant of the People parties.
55% of people polled in France, Germany, Italy and Poland support Ukraine joining the European Union, according to an internet-based survey of 4,000 people polled at the end of September for the New Europe centre. The top obstacle to Ukraine joining the EU is corruption, according to 43% of respondents. This was up from 33% five years ago. The portion of respondents who associate Ukraine with war is 12%, down from 49% in 2015. About 38% of interviewees support Ukraine joining NATO.
Although Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy topped the rating of the country's most trusted politicians with 46%, 51% of Ukrainians say they don't trust him, revealed a recent survey by the Sociological Group Rating. Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov is trusted by 32%, while 36% do not trust him and 26% do not know him. Some 25% trust the leader of the Batkivschyna, Yulia Tymoshenko, while 74% do not, and Interior Minister Arsen Avakov is trusted by 22% (67% do not). Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is trusted by 18%, while 54% do not and almost one in four do not know who he is. Some 19% trust Health Minister Maksym Stepanov, while 36% do not, and 41% don't know about him. Some 12% trust head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, while 43% do not and 40% said they don't
