Sociologists also note demand for reform in several public spheres among almost one-third (30%) of the respondents, with just 2%regarding changes as optional. "Support for Vladimir Putin as the head of state is at an extremely high level [82%] today, close to historical records. The public request of him is a demand for profound changes in the life of our society. It is the president whom the voters expect to introduce changes that would benefit wide layers of Russians and not narrow groups," Director General of the Russian Public Opinion Research Center Valery Fedorov said, commenting on the survey results.
