Ukraine's major telecoms provider increases tariffs
Ukrainian leading telecoms company Ukrtelecom increased the tariffs for three of the company's tariff plans by 8.2%-11.2% (by UAH 6, or $0.23 with VAT) from June 1.
Ukrtelecom has raised the cost of tariff plans for fixed-line telephony services, which include package services - minutes for communication within the country and minutes to call to subscribers of mobile operators. This does not apply to a fee that is regu- lated by the state, according to Interfax news agency.
Ukrtelecom has a number of tariff plans that include only a subscription fee and correspond to
the marginal tariffs for publicly available telecom- munications services established by the National Commission for Communications and Informati- sation Regulation (NCCR). The cost of these tariff plans does not change.
Ukrtelecom also said that the cost of providing telecommunications services increased, among other things, due to the growth of tariffs for mate- rial resources (fuel and electricity).
In the package minutes there are long-distance calls, calls to SIP-telephony subscribers and calls to mobile subscribers.
Vodafone quits HiWEB deal in Iran due to US sanctions
Britain’s Vodafone is quitting its agreement with Iranian internet service provider HiWEB because of impending US sanctions, ICTNA reported on June 9.
The move, reportedly related by unnamed sources in Tehran, comes a day after the UK-based firm sent its latest paperwork on dealings with the Iranian company to the US Office of Foreign
Assets Control (OFAC), which stated that it had met all requirements under the waiver given by the US administration prior to Washington’s May 8 unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear deal.
Vodafone’s agreement was one of the less risky deals with an Iranian counterpart as it was effectively a marketing and cooperation agreement with HiWEB.
