African energy sector to send strong message on investment potential at ADIPEC 2019
After a year of remarkable achievements and continuous recovery across Africa’s oil markets, the continent’s energy industry will be gathering at ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi on November 11-14, 2019, to set the industry agenda for 2020.
As Africa’s energy revolution accelerates, African energy officials from governments and the public and private sectors are joining ADIPEC to send a strong message on the con- tinent’s potential and ambitions for the coming years. Taking the lead on representing Africa at the world’s largest oil & gas event, the African Energy Chamber (EnergyChamber.org) has signed an agreement with ADIPEC and is offi- cially endorsing the conference & exhibition and inviting all its partners to join the African delega- tion participating in ADIPEC.
“The good news for Equatorial Guinea and many African countries is [that] we have the resources. African countries have some much untapped reservoirs of oil and natural gas that have regrettably been underexplored. We need to attract investment in our oil and gas indus- try, explore, supply the market and also develop our countries. ADIPEC is a great place to meet potential investors. We have a unique relation- ship with the UAE through OPEC and the GECF. We have worked closely on various oil matters under the leadership of Suhail Al Mazroui and the Ministry of Energy and Industry,” stated Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima, Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea.
“In the same ways as we push for a stronger African representation within global organisa- tions such as OPEC, we need to have Africa bet- ter represented within global investment shows like ADIPEC where major deals and contracts are being discussed,” declared NJ Ayuk, Execu- tive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber and CEO of the Centurion Law Group. “The conference’s focus on technology and the oil & gas sector 4.0 is especially relevant for Africa as the continent seeks to fully embrace digital- isation and the latest technologies to leapfrog into next-generation energy initiatives and developments.”
ADIPEC is being organised on the back of tremendous growth in investment and co-op- eration between the UAE and Africa this year, marked by the recent acquisition by ADNOC of Kosmos Energy’s stakes in Senegalese and Mau- ritanian offshore licences. As interest in Africa picks up in Middle Eastern markets and among global companies, ADIPEC offers the perfect
stage to promote additional opportunities for such deals across African oil jurisdictions. African Energy Chamber, September 23 2019

Oranto empowers local
Ugandan businesses in oil
and gas sector
In line with Oranto Petroleum’s commitment to domestic capacity building and local con- tent development across sub-Saharan Africa, the company organised a tender workshop in Uganda in partnership with the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, the Local Government Administration and KITADI consultancy.
Organized in the region of the Albertine Graben, where Oranto Petroleum has its Ngassa licences, the workshop was attended by over 250 participants, a majority of which were business owners and entrepreneurs.
“Oranto understands that oil resources have the potential to provide immense benefits to African nations through employment of the local workforce, and can boost local communi- ties and generate rural transformation,” declared Prince Arthur Eze, Chairman of Atlas Oranto Petroleum. “When we hire, train, promote and give contracts to Ugandan nationals, it is a vic- tory for the oil Industry and country. We are thankful to President Yoweri Museveni and the people of Uganda for working closely with the oil industry to ensure we all succeed. With the work done so far by our technical teams, we are confi- dent we will soon announce a discovery once we proceed to drilling wells in Uganda.”
The workshop notably provided information on training and capacity building in Uganda’s oil and gas sector, and gave insights to participants into the best opportunities the oil sector provides in income generation across agriculture, busi- ness incubation, transportation, storage, waste management, trade and services like banking and insurance. Critical skills in local content, enterprise development and innovation were also provided to participants.
“The Chamber welcomes programmes like this and salutes Oranto for living up to its com- mitment to the Ugandan people and local con- tent. The Chamber wants to support companies that contribute [to] enabling Uganda’s workforce and supplier development and collaborating with the government to support the growth and success of Uganda’s new energy industry,” stated Mickael Vogel, Director of Strategy of the Afri- can Energy Chamber.
