The consolidated net profit of Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Telekom Srpske declined 16.9% y/y to BAM34.67mn (€17.7mn) in the first nine months of 2019 as operating income declined, a statement on the Banja Luka Stock Exchange website showed.
Telekom Srpske is the second-largest telecommunications company in Bosnia. Its subscribers are mainly located in the country’s smaller entity, Republika Srpska.
Operating revenue went down 0.5% y/y to BAM312.9mn in January-September, while operating costs increased 0.8% y/y to BAM269.4mn, the company said in the statement.
Telekom Srpske, in which Serbian state-controlled Telekom Srbija holds the majority stake, is one of three telecommunications firms active in Bosnia. It provides mobile and fixed telephony, internet and data transmission under its corporate brand m:tel.
Uzbekistan to construct $300mn data centre
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the UK Said Rustamov and the executive director of
British company Lapwing Advisors Dermot Mayes have discussed the construction of
a $300mn data storage and processing centre in Uzbekistan, UzReport news agency reported on November 1.
Uzbekistan has been introducing e-government and e-commerce systems in Uzbekistan in the past couple of years and, as such, increasingly finds itself needing better high-tech infrastructure for storing and processing data.
The data centre may ensure reliable and uninterrupted access to e-government and e-commerce services along with reducing vulnerability from cyber threats, the British side noted.
