Russian shoe retailer Obuv Rossii plans online marketplace
Russian shoe manufacturer and retailer Obuv Rossii plans to develop an online marketplace, aiming to increase efficiency without gaining selling space.
As reported by bne IntelliNews, in 3Q19 Obuv showed the revenue growth decelerating to 12% y/y from 20% y/y in 1H19. The company rebounded in 4Q19, not due to core sales, but rather on the back of robust cash loan growth.
Obuv Rossii now hopes to expand the customer base to small cities where the level of penetration of online trading is not very high with an online marketplace based on westfalika.ru.
In March, the project will go into the test mode in more than 30 stores in 11 cities of the Siberian region, reaching full capacity by 2021. The company plans to have the online marketplace boost total sales by more than 30% in two years.
