     favourable market environment for premium bitumens resulted in a 61% increase in sales of these products. In H1 2021, the company sold 12mn tonnes of petroleum products through its premium sales channels.
Throughout 2021, Gazprom Neft continued to develop its partnerships. During the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, the company signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Shell, which covers hydrocarbon exploration and production, technological cooperation and reduction of carbon footprint. Gazprom Neft also signed an agreement with NOVATEK to establish a joint venture to develop the offshore Severo-Vrangelevsky license block, and with Tatneft to collaborate on enhanced oil recovery projects.
The company continues to execute its refinery modernisation programme, with investments focused on increasing production of gasoline, aviation fuels and diesel to meet the needs of the domestic Russian market. Construction of a delayed coking unit has now started at the Moscow Refinery, with equipment supplied by leading Russian companies.
Gazpromā€™s key partner in Europe to construct a CO2 storage facility in the North Sea in consortium.
Project Greensand (Wintershall Dea is one of participants, along with INEOS and Maersk Drilling) plans to construct an offshore CO2 storage facility in the North Sea, Vedomosti reports. The project might be launched in 2022. The Nini West field in the Danish sector of the sea could store 0.5-1mnt/a of CO2 by 2025. By 2030, the storage capacity might be brought to 8mnt/a. The project is in the pilot stage and might be scaled up, if successful.
CO2 is to be captured at Aalborg Portland's cement plant and shipped in vessels to the field.
The investment in the project has not been disclosed. The project is to apply for financial support to Denmark's new energy support programme, EUDP, for its second stage to be implemented.
A Wintershall representative said that the company might cooperate on similar projects with Russian companies.
