NEWS IN BRIEF

Gas from both offshore and onshore sources has provided over 90% of the Territory’s electricity supply for many years.
There is also the potential for new onshore projects, such as the Beetaloo Basin, to
power further growth and contribute to the economic recovery.
APPEA’s Northern Territory
Director Keld Knudsen said successful exploration, appraisal and development of these resources could provide significant benefits of jobs, local business opportunities, new value-adding industries, infrastructure and community investment for decades to come.
“Our members stand ready to invest hundreds of millions in exploring the NT’s natural gas reserves, and many times that in bringing anticipated projects to full production,” Mr Knudsen said.
“We look forward to engaging with the commission and the Government on the recovery and creating new opportunities for the Territory.”

Neptune Energy completes
Petrel seismic survey
offshore Australia
Neptune Energy today announced the successful acquisition of the 3D broadband seismic survey of the extensive Petrel field located in the Bonaparte basin of Australia.
The 2,900 km2 survey significantly expanded the area of seismic data Neptune holds and increased the quality and breadth of data.
Initial findings from the survey have been received with the remaining processed data due to be delivered later this year.
Internal analysis and interpretation of the acquired data will allow Neptune and its partners to plan for the future.
Neptune Energy Australia Managing Director, Janet Hann said: “The safe and successful completion of the survey is testament to the excellent teamwork of Neptune and its partners.
“The seismic survey was the first significant investment in this part of the Bonaparte basin in more than five years and it continues to present exciting future growth opportunities for Neptune offshore Australia. Our deeper understanding of the area also positions us well for the upcoming offshore petroleum exploration release later this year.”
The Polarcus Asima carried out the survey which began towards the end of 2019.
Neptune, on behalf of the Petrel JV, entered into an exclusive data licensing agreement
with Polarcus Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, which acquired the Petrelex 3D seismic survey.
Neptune holds 54% of the project and, alongside its partners Santos (40.25%) and Beach Energy (5.75%), invested in new broadband technology over an expanded area to enhance understanding of the potential resources Petrel holds.
Polarcus successfully secured approval for an Environmental Plan allowing acquisition of new 3D multi-client data to be acquired across the field.

Mahalo gas project
receives EPBC
environmental approval
Comet Ridge is very pleased to announce that the Mahalo Gas Project (MGP) has been granted approval under the Commonwealth Government Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC).
This is the first of two environmental steps required for the project to move forward to production, with the second step currently being assessed by the Queensland State Government Department of Environment and Science. Subject to the MGP meeting all state environmental regulatory requirements, this second step could be concluded over the coming months.
Comet Ridge Managing Director, Tor McCaul said that although the Company had a primary focus on the 100% held Mahalo North block he was nonetheless very pleased to receive the MGP’s first major approval along the development pathway. The MGP is held 40% by Comet Ridge Limited, 30% by Santos and 30% by

Senex, GLNG to supply
Roma North gas to domestic
market
Senex will reduce natural gas supply to GLNG by around 1 PJ over the period June to August 2020 at GLNG’s request, following currently lower LNG offtake requirements at GLNG.
Senex and GLNG have agreed to re-direct these volumes to the Wallumbilla natural gas supply hub. Senex will market this natural gas, together with higher than expected production from Atlas, to east coast gas customers as a part of its supply portfolio.
Continued production outperformance and further reduction in Atlas drilling campaign
Natural gas production continues to outperform at both Roma North and Atlas
in the Surat Basin, with production now exceeding 34 TJ/day. Given continued production and reservoir outperformance, Senex will further reduce the number of wells to be drilled at Atlas to 45 wells from 50 wells (previously reduced from 60 wells). Additional wells to maintain plateau production are to be drilled in the next campaign.
Senex expects to complete the current drilling campaign in the coming weeks, with final wells to be brought into production during June 2020. Atlas water infrastructure is also on schedule to commence commissioning and water intake in June, with completion of all works expected in early FY21.
