4.5.1 Labour market, unemployment dynamics
Turkey’s metal products sector agreed on a 66% wage hike for 2022. The wage talks covered some 130,000 workers in nearly 180 companies, including steelmakers such as Erdemir (EREGL/Eregli Demir Celik), carmakers Ford Otosan (FROTO), Renault (Paris/RNO), Tofas (TOASO), Mercedes-Benz (Frankfurt/DAI), Karsan (KARSN), Otokar (OTKAR) and Turk Traktor (TTRAK), engineering company Schneider (Paris/SU) as well as home appliance and electronic goods producers Bosch, Arcelik (ARCLK) and Siemens (Frankfurt/SIE).
Chinese smartphone maker Oppo made job cuts at its Istanbul factory due to rising costs that affected its targeted production capacity.
