Opposition leader, former Prime Minister and head of Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party Yulia Tymoshenko remains in forth place with 8.85 and since her return to mainstream politics has been unable to ignite much enthusiasm amongst her base. Amongst the “also rans” Ihor Smeshko has 7%, Anatoliy Shariy and Oleh Liashko 2.9% each. The option "another candidate" was chosen by 10.5% of the respondents. As Zelenskiy no longer has enough support to win again in the first round, if the presidential election when to a second round he would still easily beat Poroshenko: among those who were decided and ready to go to vote, 68.4% of respondents would vote for Zelenskiy and 31.6% for Poroshenko. A total of 4,000 respondents over the age of 18 were interviewed for the survey.
If the elections to the Verkhovna Rada were held next Sunday, then the parties Servant of the People, Opposition Platform - For Life, European Solidarity and Batkivschyna would be elected to parliament. These are the results of a sociological survey of the population, conducted by the Social Monitoring Center from August 8 to August 15, 2020 presented at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Friday. According to the poll, if the elections to the Rada were held in the coming week, 26.7% of respondents would vote for Servant of the People, followed by Opposition Platform - For Life party - 21, 3%, European Solidarity - 12.5% and Batkivschyna - 9.8%. Asked whether they intend to vote in elections to the Rada if they were held in the near future, 8.9% answered definitely no, 7.3% - most likely no, 36% - rather yes and 38.8% - definitely yes. Some 7.5% said they do not know, and 1.5% refused to answer.
Ukraine's accession to NATO is supported by 46.8% of Ukrainians, 27.3% are in favor of non-aligned status, and 16.4% are in favor of joining the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), according to the Social Monitoring Center If a referendum on Ukraine's accession to NATO took place in the near future, 46.8% of those polled would vote for membership, 33.3% would vote against, while 9% would not take part in voting, and 10.9% found it difficult to answer.
A third (29.7%) of Ukrainians have a positive attitude towards Russia, and half consider it wrong to ban Russian TV channels, actors, films and social networks, according to a poll by Social Monitoring Center between August 8 to 15, 2020, Interfax-Ukraine reported. When asked how the respondents generally relate to the Russian Federation, 4.4% answered that it was very positive, 25.3% - rather positive, 31.4% - rather negative, 26.5% - very negative, and 12.4% found it difficult to answer.
Half (48.6%) of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine is not an independent state, according to the Social Monitoring centre. When asked if Ukraine is an independent state today, some 40.5% answered that yes, Ukraine is an independent state, some 48.6% said that no, Ukraine is not an independent state, and 10.9% found it difficult to answer the question. When asked whether President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is independent in his decisions and actions, or whether other countries or international organizations influence his decisions and actions, some 7.4% answered that the president is completely independent, some 47.8% – he is independent in some issues, but dependent in others, some 40.2% said that he is completely dependent on the influence of other countries and international organizations, and 4.6% found it difficult to answer.
A third (32.6%) of Ukrainians support granting of a special status to the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, according to the Social Monitoring Center. When asked what options for solving the problem of the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the respondents support, 32.6% answered that they support granting of a special status to these territories, which provides for autonomy within Ukraine, 23.3% - the
