Romania’s BCR bank ready to finance infrastructure projects in Moldova
Owners of Turkey’s new mega airport hire bank to find buyers for stake sale
Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR), part of Austrian Erste Bank group, stands ready to finance both private and state-run infrastructure projects in Moldova, BCR CEO Sergiu Manea stated during his meeting with Moldovan Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici held in Chisinau on May 27.
BCR has operated a subsidiary in Moldova since 1998. BCR Chisinau started its activity on October 22, 1998 as a universal bank serving both companies and individuals, with a shareholder's capital of MDL 24mn, which was increased further to MDL728mn (€360mn).
The parties discussed investment possibilities in the republic and possible instruments for financing local businesses. The BCR leadership expressed interest in further consolidating the BCR network in Moldova and supporting new infrastructure development projects.
Some of the owners of the joint venture that operates Istanbul’s giant new airport have hired Lazard to sell their stake in the $11bn flight hub, people with knowledge of the matter have told Bloomberg.
The move just weeks after the mega airport was opened might
sit uncomfortably with government boasts that the flagship infrastructure is a symbol of the strength and power of Turkey and its economy. The news also comes shortly after reports suggesting that Italy’s Astaldi has relaunched talks to sell its 33.35% stake in Istanbul’s Third Bosphorus Bridge.
Officials are ambitious to see Istanbul Airport to become the world’s busiest airport within a few years.
Slovenian railways operator Slovenske Zeleznice said it has won the con- tract to supply 26 further FLIRT multiple units to the Slovenian state rail operator Slovenske Zeleznice. The order value is in excess of €150mn.
Slovenske Zeleznice is exercising an option under the contract announced in April last year for the delivery of a mixed fleet of FLIRT and KISS trains.
“We are very pleased that the Slovenian state rail operator is expanding its fleet to a total of 52 trains. The procurement of a coordinated range of different vehicles is exemplary and will make rail travel in Slovenia and neighbouring countries safer, more comfortable and more environmentally friendly,” Zeljko Davidovic, sales manager Central and Eastern Europe at Stadler, said.
