Samsonova and in four years accumulated over 0.7mn answers to questions and discussions, which will now be directly integrated into Yandex search engine. TheQuestion has a monthly audience of about 10mn people.
TheQuestion had already raised $1mn worth of investment in two rounds, Samsonova told the press back in 2016. She did not disclose the investors, only pointing that those were private individuals. Analysts surveyed by Vedomosti daily believe that Yandex could have paid several million US dollars for the service.
Previously Yandex launched its own similar service Znatoki, working on the same principle, but the service was not operating as steadily as TheQuestion, Vedomosti reported on March 12.
"Yandex is rapidly expanding its ecosystem and
is penetrating deeper into the everyday life of Russians," Sberbank CIB said in a report on the company issued on March 13. In the report the analysts also noted higher user engagement and stickiness improving for media services of Yandex, the indicators which TheQuestion acquisition could further improve.
