9.1.3  Oil and gas sector news
The Danish Energy Agency has approved the construction of the Nord
Stream-2 pipeline in the Danish Exclusive Economic Zone  southeast of
Bornholm Island, the operator of the project has reported in a statement. The
construction permit covers a 147 km-long pipeline section. Nord Stream-2 is
Gazprom's key export gas pipeline project (55 bcm annual capacity) for
removing Ukraine-related transit risks. The news removes the key uncertainty
over construction of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline, as Denmark had been the
only country to not yet approve the project in its economic zone. Yesterday,
meanwhile, the operator of the project reported that more than 2,100 km of
pipeline has now been laid, meaning that 86% has now been completed (2,448
km for the two links combined).
Transneft  might pay up to $110mn to Hungarian MOL for the
contaminated oil issue , Kommersant reports. The payment is to be made by
Lukoil, which would then receive compensation from Transneft. MOL is the first
