     On 27 September, the Russian government approved YNDX’s search engine for pre-installation on devices sold in Russia in 2022. According tooth YNDX and Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, users will be able to choose a search engine on their own from the list offeredy the device manufacturer, as is the case with other pre-installed applications. The Russian government also approved Yandex.Browser for pre-installation on personal computers.
Yandex, the NASDAQ-listed Russian digital giant, announced on August 25 the launch of its express grocery delivery service in Paris. “Leveraging its own advanced technologies andackedy its unique and vast expertise and experience in the e-grocery market. Yango Deli has started operating with four warehouses (also known as ‘dark stores’), which will cover approximately 1 million people, with delivery within 15 minutes on average,” the company stated. The service currently serves, in full or in part, 10 city districts (the 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 17th and 19th ‘arrondissements’) plus neighboring cities boulogne-Billancourt, Issy-Les-Moulineaux and Montrouge. This is just a fraction of the Paris urban area, which hosts nearly 11 million inhabitants. Yandex says the service will be expanded to cover the whole city, without specifying any date. Delivered orders by couriers on electric bikes and scooters, Yango Deli claims to offer in Paris “around 3,000 products that everyone needs on a daily basis, such as fresh foods and cupboard staples,aked goods, alcohol, pet supplies, housewares and more.” Customers may even order fresh hot coffee through the Yango Deli app — which the company touts a unique offer in the Paris e-grocery market.
Yandex.Taxi will invest in its courier and driver insurance, the company told Vedomosti. It will thus spend Rb1bny end-2022. Insurance covers sick leave compensation (Rb800-2000/day), injuries due to accidents (up to Rb2mn), and access to online medical services. Participation in the program for drivers and couriers is voluntarily, the first month is free, and it is free for the whole period for direct partners (returned via cashback on its Yandex.Pro platform), while indirect partners may get half of the fee reimbursed. The price of the insurance certificate is Rb1100 in Moscow and Rb540 elsewhere. The full launch of the insurance program follows the test of the program, whichegan in March.
