Management Committee, paid a visit to China today.
Beijing hosted working meetings of Alexey Miller with Han Zheng, Vice Premier of
the State Council of the People’s Republic
of China, and Wang Yilin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNPC.
e meetings were focused on the
state and prospects of energy cooperation, including pipeline gas supplies from Russia to China. Special attention was given to the status of preparations for gas supplies via the eastern route, which are going to start on December 1, 2019. Alexey Miller said that the Chayandinskoye eld had been connected to the Power of Siberia gas pipeline in August.
It was noted at the meetings that Russian pipeline gas deliveries will help enhance the reliability of gas supplies across China and will make a substantial contribution to the implementation of China’s plans for switching from coal to gas and for environmental improvements in the country. “China’s gas market continues to grow at an accelerated pace, and in the current year alone, gas consumption in China will rise by an amount commensurate with the throughput of Power of Siberia,” said Alexey Miller.
e parties placed a particular emphasis on the planned deliveries of natural gas from Russia’s Far East and via the western route.
In addition, the meetings touched upon the collaboration in the areas of underground gas storage and gas- red power generation in China.

Novatek signs MoU with
India’s H-Energy on LNG
supply
Russia’s Novatek today during the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and India’s H-Energy Global.
 e MoU envisages co-operation in
LNG supplies to India on a long-term basis, joint investment in future LNG terminals of H-Energy and LNG projects of Novatek, as well as establishing a joint venture to market LNG and natural gas from Novatek’s portfolio to end-customers in India, Bangladesh and other markets.
“India is one of the largest and fastest growing LNG markets, and will be one
of the main sources of future growth in global demand for natural gas,” noted Novatek’s chairman Leonid Mikhelson. “ e Memorandum of Understanding is an important step towards entering the end
customer market in India, which is of great interest to Novatek taking into account
our strategic plans to implement new LNG projects and signi cantly increase our LNG production volumes.”

Novatek creates shipping JV with Sovcomflot
Russia’s Novatek has signed a heads of agreement (HoA) with Russian state shipping group Sovcomflot at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok to set up a joint venture to build and operate LNG carriers.
According to the agreement, the parties intend to create a shipping company, with the potential involvement of other joint venture participants. The joint venture will focus on managing the construction and operations of Arctic ice-class LNG carriers in accordance with best industry practices and international standards, ensuring the optimized transportation from Novatek’s future LNG projects in the Russian Arctic region, including the Arctic LNG 2 project.
“The efficient development of the Northern Sea Route as a viable, year-round navigational route requires consolidating experience in ice navigation, applying new technological solutions, and implementing the best international standards for navigational safety and training,” noted Leonid Mikhelson, Novatek’s chairman.“An optimised model of transporting LNG from the Russian Arctic region via the Northern Sea Route to major global markets, including the Asia-Pacific region, will support the successful implementation of Novatek’s Arctic LNG projects as well
as reaching the goal set by the Russian President to ensure an increase in annual cargo traffic along the Northern Sea Route to 80mn tonnes in 2024”.

Novatek signs co-op deal with Chukotka region
Russia’s Novatek has signed a co-operation agreement with the government of Russia’s Chukotka region at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
According to the agreement, the company will consider projects introducing LNG as
a fuel for distributed power generation, as well as motor fuel for maritime, automotive transport and mining equipment in
Chukotka.
“ e Russian Federation fully supports
the development of the Northern Sea Route as a yearly navigational route connecting the Asian Paci c and European markets. When our LNG transshipment complex in the Kamchatka Territory and the Arctic LNG 2 project become fully operational, the ice-class LNG tankers will navigate along the Arctic coast of the Chukotka Autonomous Region year-round and almost daily,” said Leonid Mikhelson, Novatek’s chairman. “Using the potential of Novatek’s future LNG projects to supply clean-burning natural gas to remote northern regions will replace traditional energy sources (coal and diesel fuel) with much cleaner natural gas, which contributes meaningfully to protect the ecosystem of the Arctic region”.

Novatek signs MoU with Petronet LNG
Novatek has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with India’s Petronet LNG on future natural gas co-operation
at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
The MoU envisages delivering LNG supplies from Novatek’s portfolio to the Indian market, including natural gas supplies for power generation, as well as investment by Petronet LNG in Novatek’s future LNG projects and the joint marketing of LNG as motor fuel in India, including joint investment in developing a network of filling stations and a fleet of LNG-fuelled trucks.
“India’s rapid economic growth requires increasing demand for all sources of energy and, primarily, for natural gas
as the most environmentally friendly
type of fuel. Moreover, the conversion
of modal transport to LNG enables
India to significantly reduce carbon emissions, thereby contributing to
India’s commitment toward reducing its impact on climate change,” noted Leonid Mikhelson, Novatek’s chairman. “Our low- cost production from future Arctic LNG projects ensures competitively priced LNG supplies to most regions of the world, and we are con dent that our mutually bene cially cooperation with Petronet LNG will promote the supply of a ordable clean burning natural gas to the Indian market.”
