solving the problem completely. State-owned banks have an aggregate NPL ratio of 43.1% down 7pp in the last year, but the state sector’s performance here is weighed down by PrivatBank which has a ratio of 72.5%, although that is down 6pp in the last year.
Retail loan growth fell in November after strong growth for most of 2021,
but had started to pick up again in April as the economy began to recover and remain modestly down on last year’s results. Corporate loans continue to fall steadily and borrowing remains well below the level of previous years.
8.1.1 Earnings
The market of non-bank financial institutions, despite the coronavirus crisis, increased the volume of transactions in 2020, according to the April review of the non-banking financial sector posted on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). At the same time, it is emphasized that almost all segments recorded significant, and some posted record indicators of profitability, except for credit unions that suffered losses due to the formation of reserves for credit losses.
